metaspliotable 2 vsftpd 2.3.4 vunerability help

Hi,

I am using metasploitable 2 and i am stuck with a access problem. I am attempting to exploit the vulnerability as follows: https://sweshsec.wordpress.com/2015/07/31/vsftpd-vulnerability-exploitation-with-manual-approach/

I used nmap to find the open ports then researched vsftpd 2.3.4. I can tenet in on port 21 and get a session open on port 6200. My issue is that when i telnet to 6200, i can't enter any normal FTP commands. (ie ls -l or whoam i.) Can anyone figure out if i am doing something wrong?

I realise i can do this with metasploit, but i want to use the manual method.

Never mind sovled it….

for some reason telnet does not work but netact -vv does..
