US Gov't has website to steal your pc

Any US residents here heard of the "cash for clunkers" program? It's not really hidden or anything but Uncle Sam is looking to take more than your old car. The site has a disclaimer stating that to participate via the site, cars.gov, that your pc becomes US gov't property and that they can do whatever they want with it and so can anyone else that they deem worthy.

The interesting part is that it seems to be taking advantage of people's natural tendency to click "continue", "yes" and "I agree" to move ahead without actually reading the information.

For anyone who's interested:

I smell trouble ahead with the US gov't making moves like this but maybe that's just paranoia talking…

Anyway, this was shared with me by a few friends so I thought I'd post it here for any security concerned individuals that may have missed it.

I would like to hear your opinions on the whole situation. As for me, I'll be moving all my files to a TC encrypted ironkey and running customized live distros and surfing via TOR and/or proxies from public wifi.

I may even sleep with the lights on…

Yeah I saw this a couple days ago, it is pretty alarming. However, I have seen some other .gov sights that state similar warmings. I saw an FAA site that did this once. I stay away from a sight like that just because im not entirely sure what their intentions may or may not be. I suppose from a hacker perspective you could watch traffic with Wireshark or similar and keep an eye on what goes on. From what I gathered, they might have the capability to earch your pc will your on their network. I wonder how they would do this without anyone noticing. Food for thought;careful monitoring of what goes on while connected could give new insight to some gov techniques. Of course this is like a conspiracy theory.

If you watch the video and visit the site, The disclaimer is for Dealers. The dealers need to register to be on the site and thier info is being used not the consumer. the website is just info to see if you qualify, That whole video piece is a blown up joke, Get real.

lol, yeah it did mention dealers. Of course this is typical news propaganda. And obvioulsy the video blew this way out of proportion. Actually looking at the sight there really isn't much to it. I'm not about to be worried about tracking cookies right now:)

The only good part of the video is watching Kimberly Guilfoyle. (yummy) Tracking cookies are everywhere not just on gov. sites.
