Anybody heard about this?

I was watching the news this morning, and I heard a story about how there's this new thing where you can download a program that allows medical researchers to use your computer's processing power during idle time for their research. Sounds exactly like a botnet to me. Has anybody else heard about this?

I haven't heared of this particular case, but it sounded very much like something I heared of some time ago, called "The Grid"
