Background Check
I'm am currently trying to do a background check on somebody I know for reasons that would take a long time to explain. But basically in a nutshell the guy stole my ipod touch and some other stuff from me.
SO I proceeded to google some sites that would allow me to do a background check on him for free, but all the "Free" sites have hidden costs and I really don't have any money at all.
I was wondering if anybody in this community would know of a very good background check site that is completely free of charge. No hidden fees at all. This is very important to me and I really wish to get this done.
Also, if anyone would be willing to help me in any way I will receive all help with gratitude.
Thanks much in advance

Do a manual backgroundcheck? Google his name, brute his passwords, read his emails and so on.
Ok, well the problem is, there are like a billion people with his name "Robert Lowry" and shit ton of them live in Washington state. Also, I'm not in the least sense of the word a hacker, yet, so I can't really brute force anything. I did steal his password to his myspace and his email with a simple keylogger, but that brought up nothing except for the fact that he might be secretly gay and cheating on his girlfriend that he treats like shit anyways…
So I went to trying to do background checks and I am still stuck…
Edit: what I really want to find is some government records on some previous theft attempts because I know there are some but he denies them completely.

Actually yes. If anyone is accused of a crime it's public record. I use it myself here in PA: http://ujsportal.pacourts.us/

Hmm, never actually thought of that, thankyou, I will try that tomorrow morning. ^_^

Actually yes, I didn't know that the "Freedom of information act" was supposed to have restrictions (although I know in some cases it does)
Businesses, even small ones do background checks on "will-be" employees before they hire them, so why wouldn't someone like me be able to access what Hottopic or Orange Julious can?
korg wrote: Businesses (At least in PA) can access any court records that are available but you need a employer id# to do so. The average joe can only access public dockets. (Which is usually enough).
Well thats what I want to do but I seem to be haveing some trouble with finding the right site for the court system in Washington. So I really don't know what to look for. Like, I have no idea where I would find the site.

I haven't found a free site as detailed as Intelius either (If you have, I'd apreciate a link).
It sounds like the next step would be to ask for the ipod back. You could play cute and ask his girlfriend or parents if they can return your stuff.
Minors' records aren't made public. Trolling through social networking accounts doesn't sound fun, just tedious. Looking at Intelius, most of that info can be dug up. Just break it down into phone/name db, birthday/name db, etc. It's all connected together, look for different combinations that make that person unique (google).
http://searchenginez.com/ It's free to use.
edit: the "free" sites you're talking about is probably Intelius. Intelius bought the compitition and linked to intelius.com to get traffic. I ran into that too when searching for similar sites.
Do you have proof that he's gay? If you do, that's easy blackmail material.
Oh, and you said you got some of his passwords. Try those on his other logins, lots of people use the same password for all of their accounts. It's worth a shot. ;) (Especially check any sort of site that might include any credit card information. And check Paypal. If you're afraid of credit card fraud, send the information my way. ^_^)

That's the difference between success and failure when you're trying to manipulate someone. If you have information but you feel that the subject is too… taboo to bring up, then you're going to fail.
People who hide that they're gay bring this sort of thing upon themselves. They have to know that eventually someone will find out. By hiding the fact, they are only showing that they are embarrassed about it which makes a juicy target for anyone willing to pay a little attention and do some digging.
It's much easier befriending a person.
I never thought I'd hear that suggestion from you.
I'm pretty sure that it was mentioned that he might be cheating on his girlfriend… so tell her that, and steal her. iPod and young girls are pretty much equal in my eyes. I'm not sure how young she is, but I'm just assuming she's under 18. My point being, its a fair trade. It's like trading a few camels for a wife. (Which, does happen from time to time where I'm from.)
Instead of looking at his back ground which serves as no purpose, pull up some receipts and if you have the box or something with the pin number just call the cops and report it as stolen then file charges against him. I mean since he stole from you why learn about him instead of getting him marked with a criminal mark. I mean with a charge like theft it's unlikely any job would take him considering they think he'd steal from them.:radio:

Futilitiy, those were my thoughts exactly. I honestly couldn't have explained it any better than that.
@Mosh: I don't think it's sinking low at all. If I have blackmail material on someone, I have a little advantage over them. I wouldn't just go blackmail him like you're thinking though. Think of it as a last resort. A "Plan B". That's always good to have, isn't it? ;)

Everyone knows that an eleven year old girl is worth at least two iPods.
Yeah, you can plug into a little girl in three places. Only one on an ipod.
rofl… how did you guys go from talking about a background-check-website to this? "expect the unexpected"… makes more sense everyday rofl

That's simple.
