Linux Vs Mac.

does anybody know when and how mac started using the linux distro as a basis for OS practicality? writitng an essay on it and on that point i'm totally lost. google doesn't help at all because it doesn't connect the two too well =S

I dont know when exactly, but I think it was within the last 4 years or so. I always thought that it was odd that windows switched from a gui application over DOS to a full OS, and then mac switched from a full OS to a gui app over Unix. I'm sure there's a good reason, though I dont know what it is.

fair enough, i'm not really focusing on windows too much, more just the similarities and times of the linux/mac 'infusion' (so to speak)
