Try IRC channels, make some friends, find someone willing to explain it to you if your too damn stupid to find the information yourself. Most of hacking is information gathering, you hack into something for information weather it be passwords, emails, or w/e. Information is half of it, if you cant take the heat, kill the motherboard.

Being that a God was the one complaining, I think that we all need to look into our morals. We are all here for one reason. To better our skills or learn new ones. I agree that a person should look things up for themselves, yet if we tell them to do so we are assuming they are to stupid to know that. I would submit that we all change to the other frame of mind and assume they have enough fing intelligence to fing have already f***ing Googled it.

If we look at it logically, as "HACKERS" must do, we must consider the mathematical implications. The quicker we learn, the faster our combined knowledge will grow. The whole purpose of this is to stay ahead of the opponent, as in chess. We need to keep on going where they tell us not to. The enemy is getting smarter, thanks to us, in part. Here we can get up to speed, but we must do more, we must find new exploits, new holes, new methods, new paths into the places in which we are FORBIDDEN. I invite you all to consider the alternative.

If you get a response that tells you to Google something, that means that you either haven't or haven't enough. The majority of the people that answer real questions answer them with real answers; if you're not getting real answers, your question SUCKS.

Seriously, exploiting an arbitrary SQL query that sits high off the hardware is relatively easy. You can "see" the exploit clear as day with the source. You can't "see" a BoF (unless you're a C guru).
You really want to learn? Then learn. Stop bitching. The help is there for the people who want it.

Fact is that the existing holes are constantly patched, and while there will always be sites vulnerable to ' OR 1=1– , more complex exploits are only alike at a deep theoretical level, which makes it very difficult to teach.

I agree with the OP on one point. I don't agree about the question asking, because there are some incredible minds here that have been loads of help to me. Here's some advice, show them that you have actually tried researching. Take the time to think about what you want to ask, make it a well thought out, specific question. Follow these simple steps, and ask the right person, you will get your answer and more. Zephyr has been the most help to me. He has helped me with the timed challenges and I have learned a whole lot from him…he's also a really nice guy, but as you can see he doesn't put up with bullshit. You have to realize that their time is valuable, and if you expect them to take the time out of their lives to help you, then you better make your questions count. They aren't going to just tell you everything straight up, because they learned it on their own and its only fair that you do the same. Plus, they're trying to teach you to learn other things on your own as well. Now, I have seen people who just say 'google it', and yeah, that kind of sucks, especially when you already have, but if you find a good and patient teacher, they will tell you something a little more specific to research, or to look further into. As I said, there are some great helpful minds around here, who will definitely point you in the right direction, but they also expect you to do your own research. Its more rewarding when you figure it out on your own as well. Now, the point I DO agree with you on, is the fucking flaming. It is just getting ridiculous. Thats where the new people are getting run off. Someone comes in and asks a decent, thought out, legitimate question and gets flamed like crazy for it. I'm sick of it. Its pathetic, its immature, and its getting fucking old. Some of you act like you're fucking 12 (and probably actually are). I'm not naming names, because I won't lower myself to that level, but I can't wait until some of you talk some of that bullshit to the wrong person, on here or even better in real life. If flaming newbies makes you feel better about yourself, then you're a fucking pathetic loser. Thats all I have to say about that. Again, though, don't let the assholes ruin it for you. Find the right person, have your questions thought out, show that you've done your research before you ask and that you're willing to do more. If they are willing, and have the knowledge, then you will get some of the best help you can find. You will have to sift through the assholes to filter out the ones that will help though. Listen ZvirX, you have to do it yourself. All that "non-SK" hacking you're somehow "missing out" on? You're not able to do it because you HAVEN'T LEARNED ABOUT IT YET.
If you want to gain SKILL and KNOWLEDGE, you have to do so yourself. All we can do is assist you in your ventures. You can ask us for help. You can ask us for opinions. You can't ask us for a complete "hacking course".

Not sure exactly why Im even bothering to reply to this aweful mess of a thread. But I did want to hit on a few points.
First off I am not nearly as active on this site as I once was. The majority of threads are useless garbage, articles are generally meh. All and all the browsed information is lacking after obtaining a certain level of knowledge.
That said this site was/is a fantastic base point in which to build knowledge upon.
The challenges, while I will say they are completely unrealistic and havent seen much if any useful exploits in the real world obtained from them. They each lead down a particular topic to study and learn from. Doing them allowed me to ask more indepth detailed questions which resulted in more detailed and accurate answers for topics I was interested in.
The users here (some not all) have specilizing areas of interest/expertise that are valuable resources.
Ups to the following:
JJButler/SwartMumba - They have been fantastic in helping me develop my python coding skills.
Uberon - Knows his shit when it comes to XSS. He has not only helped my understand how these exploits work, but also how to apply them in a slew of different situations.
zeus_the_moose - Helped me with some assembly/olly and other things to expand my knowledge in reverse engineering, app cracking etc.
korg - Always willing to help people with malware/virus/computer issues and is quite good at it.
This isnt ment to be a list of all the useful people here in HBH but more of an example the vast variaty of knowledge obtainable from a community like HBH if you use the all the available resources.
Truth is you can obtain quite a vast amount of information, or at the very least get more indepth areas to take to google. HBH is not, nor can it ever be a one stop shop for all your hacking needs.
On a final note, stop pushing more trash like this onto the forum, and start contributing and HBH will do nothing but benifit from said contributions. Making it easier for you and others who come here for more knowledge.
