Not just the world but the internet ends on 2012

I think spyware posted about this some time ago. Supply and demand states strength within numbers, if enough voice their wish, someone will supply it. We are legion, for we are many.

Yeah, the whole concept supporting the 2012 "expected death" is ridiculous. Internet will remain subscription-based as a one-time monthly fee, or ISPs will lose massive numbers of customers. They don't want to go there.

Rebellion is the natural cause of suppression. If we do not get what we want, we'll fight until we have.

Surely, the ISPs know this.

Yeah I was naturally skeptical, the layout on the page of the plans they proposed I thought looked poorly photoshop made, but didn't know if you guys knew something new that I didn't know.

But I was looking for something like this in here and couldn't find anything, is it still in the hbh forum d-base so I could read the discussion?

Is it just me who missed something or are you referring to the "Don't let the Internet evolve to this:" thing?

Yeah, he's talking about the crappy comparison of TV plans with specific channels to Internet plans with specific websites… which will NEVER HAPPEN. Sorry, but TV plans don't have millions of channels; if they did, those plans would be a one-time monthly fee for everything, too. Some people just don't need to be allowed to write on serious topics without logical reasoning abilities (referring to the poster of the article, not the OP).

original poster…

to the topic, I think it's a pile of BS. I mean what would even be the purpose for such action from the ISPs ? Also I wonder how would they go around, like signing some international code of conduct, because otherwise you would always get anomalies providing everything as in the 'old days' :) I don't think it is possible, that something that huge, economically counter-productive, and world-wide was about to happen in just few years, without any political and public fuss…

original poster - :whoa:

yeah it sounded suicidal to me resulting in a lot of smaller isp's starting up not charging bull shit like that.

Back when dial-up was a ripoff, Netzero got started as free, ad-supported dial-up. That inspired their competitors to drop their prices and add features. If it hadn't been for that initial drop-off, our cable internet services (or ADSL2) would probably cost more than our cellphone plans. Still… this is just too much of a fantasy topic to even make the possibility of a provoked change in the industry… even a possibility.

but the important thing to take from this is… that girr had some NICE, big, bouncy, juicy, jiggly kickballlz. hooooooowwwwllll!

I'm sorry. I felt something interesting had to happen on HBH.

on a more serious note, ISP's are not the gatekeepers of the internet. There will always be wireless, schools, libraries, etc.

Were you joking? If not then think again?

Who provides internet for those "wireless, schools, libraries, etc." ?

Again, if all the ISPs suddenly decide to challenge net neutrality, humanity will challenge the ISPs. I'm talking rogue operations, fires, bricks through windows and threats.

Oppression? Rebellion. Retaliation? Uprising.

Wireless won't be on my tab. Libraries and schools are often public institutions, so their economics/billing will be different from the public. If public institutions do not provide for all of the public, they are useless in spirit. The government/public institutions are not going to cut off their own limbs, especially if there is such an easy fix.

What makes the internet evil? Isn't it the users and everybody who use the internet and upload "filth" the "evil" ones. What do you describe filth as as well?

Anyways Im off home. Take care. x
