How Legal is my idea?
<edit>Wouldn't be any different than companies sharing our emails with third-parties for a buck; I agree with jj in that you would probably need consent, though, for it to be legal.</edit> Not sure how much of "a buck" you'd make off of it, though… you'd need a couple hundred to even consider selling them. There are two rules in conducting slimy business:
- Put the market in perspective.
- Don't be a complete douchebag.
Your idea practically screams #2 (in more ways than one).
If you don't mind getting spammed a hundred times a day for rolex watches, increased manhood, free degrees, and the occaisional rejection hotline (or whatever you're trying to prank with) then I suggest DON'T DO IT! Mainly because I don't want to deal with it either. Sounds like an easy way to join spammers in jail and become Big Bubba's new girlfriend.
As like Rick said. He suggests you do not do it. I disagree, no offense. I don't suggest at all. All I will say is if I call you 400 times in one day and no one answers… Would you like that? Would you unplug your phone? Then you miss that phone call that your car is being repossessed, house is being sold, bankrupt. Why you may ask.. Well because if you need some chump change off selling emails. Then.. Then.. (Feel free to add to this at anytime) Maybe you should pick up a paper route. Like our fathers once did. Hell bus tables if you are that desperate. Its very illegal by the way. Court will come, my guess is 30 days. So you'll make around… Lets just say $400 and then you pay a fine of.. Well your disturbing privacy. Hell they will get you on what ever they can make up at the time. Like disturbing the peace… Attempting to DTP. Well court date comes and you get fined of 250 grand. I tried to summarize it so that I didn't have a huge quote, but I was unable to even begin deciphering it, so I just put this here instead. I honestly don't know where to begin. Maybe where it starts making sense… wait, there is nothing sensible about it. Maybe where it stops jumping around long enough to actually prove a point… nope. Nothing there, either. Hm…
All I see is a jumbled, random, 100% useless post. Next time at least make the effort to put some sort of organization into your writing. No, I'm not asking for a five paragraph essay. But is it really that hard to write English? To make some sort of unifying topic? Some way to distinguish whether you're talking in the third or first person? What's illegal? Having a paper route? Why would you be paying 250 grand? Where will the court be going? Why 30 days? Why is my house being repossessed?!
Big companies have been selling email accounts out to spammers forever. Why do you think we're still getting spam? Why doesn't the court get up and hunt them down, too?
I'm going to have to agree with jj and zephyr on this one. If you don't care about being an asshole and you really expect to get tons of emails, then you'd better hide some sort of disclaimer somewhere saying what you're going to be doing.

Sorry, I sat down and spent time writing the post, and by the time I submitted the form my cookie expired, and the site uses some sort of session key in the headers so that when I logged back in I still could not submit the post. So I had to use an app to extract the post data I was sending, and it looked all crappy.
Normally I would have fixed it, but it was like 4am and I had school in 2 hours so I had to get SOME sleep:|
