Controversial Computer Topics (Anyone?)
Ok. First of all, I have been on these forums in the background and I realize that asking stupid questions normally gets you..How do you say. "Eaten alive". So I tend to have a pretty low post count for that reason. No problem cant be solved if you look long enough and have patients.
I have yet to ask for help, because everything I have needed I have been able to find with Google. Or just looking through threads and not getting irritated.
Currently I am going to high school. They have you complete an essay as a graduation requirement. The essay has to be a ten page paper on a controversial topic. They told us it should be something we are interested in, normally I would pick something easy and had been done a hundred times. But we are going to be working on this paper for months. Hours upon hours in the library, researching. Writing.
So now that you understand, that brings me to the actual question. Searching around has brought up no results about controversial computer topics. At the moment, I am researching Net Neutrality. But if anyone else can come up with another topic that may be more interesting to research and write about over the next few months. I would appreciate it. If theres anything I left out feel free to ask.
I did a little research paper in college about computer security and the internet (this is back in 2003) where, for one of my points, I discussed the availability of private information. My demonstration of this is that numerous county/state websites post a lot of information on the internet as public domain. I presented, for everyone's viewing pleasure, the deed of my college professor's house from Maricopa County. You can get full copies of it for essentially a few bucks, or just download a version that has 'unofficial copy' printed on some of the white space. It helped that my Prof had a very unusual name 'Abramowicz', and so his information was easier to search then, say, John Smith. With that deed, though, you can get dollar amounts, addresses, lending partners, copies of signatures, etc, which are all used for verifying identity online. But you can talk about the disclosure and access of public domain documents and right to access. Other counties, like San Bernadino, control it where you have to go through a few extra steps to get at actual documents; they just post the information in databases to cover public domain information.
A little food for thought :ninja:

I'm only 10 minutes through this vid right now, but also some people argue that the accessibility of material leads to the more extreme fetishes. That could anything from homosexuality to viral chasers (people who try to hook up with people who have something like aids).

A fetish just means It gets you off. Just like most people have a fetish for big boobs or big dicks. America does have some pretty extreme old testament Christians though. Napalm the blacks, burn the fags, etc. Thank you bible belt :xx:
oh, also… many right-wing neo-cons are working as hard as they can to find a cure/cause for the grave mental illnesses known as "homosexuality" and "liberalism". It really isn't that surprising anymore.
