S-video connection appears black & white on TV

I have just connected my laptop(XP) to a TV using the built-in S-video port. I have an S-video to RCA cable.This displays the windows screen on my tv but it is black and white.I automatically adjusted the out put settings to PAL as I am in that particular region, but still no changeā€¦.black and white only.Does anyone know why it is in black and white

It's in the graphics settings panel, I can't remember what it's called but I once had the same problem. Just a setting somewhere ;)

It's under the video output format, change it to composite video out. I believe that is the one we need.

i have changed all the settings(PAL, colour mode e.t.c)everything is correct but it still only appears in B&W

You have a black & white TV, you need to buy one that can handle colour.

Did you check to make sure the cord is securely and completely plugged in on each end? A loose or halfway-plugged S-Video cable can result in distorted video. Also, the fact that you're using an S-Video to "RCA" (A/V, I'm guessing) cable. Does your 32-inch color Samsung have a native S-Video input or a VGA input? It would be preferable to use those.
