Prison Break Hacker Kid

Just been watching the new season of prison break

Its got some hacker kid on it. Makes some device that steals data from anything electrical near it. possible?

Most likely if it's on t.v. then probably not atm.

maybe not anything near it. Anything that uses something that sends it accross a radiowave ie. bluetooth or Irda then i suppose he could make a scanner which picks up the frequency, recieves the data, then copies that data to the thing that it was origionally sending it to. There for it doesnt look suspicious.

Seems cool But i don't see it happening anytime soon.

Maybe it's an RFID scanner, and everyone around him is stupid enough to use RFID chips. But yes, something has to be actively transmitting for him to be able to pull out information.

Can't ever happen unless every device has wifi/bluetooth/something wireless on it, and has some kind of vulnerability which allows the attacker to copy data.

In other words; no, it's a fucking tv show. What did you expect? Realism? This isn't like, India.

Yea, it would have to be giving out a signal for the info to be stolen.

how could it possibly work without a signal to steal?

It could be super futuristic to read the platter of the HD and recreate the information thats stored on it… but ya the odds of something being able to do that and not kill the HD from whatever the waves were hitting it are like none in a million.

Without a significant change in technology, and physics, it is not possible do do that.

Try to stay grounded in the real world, and use fictional TV shows for their intended purpose…. mindless entertainment.
