Hacking the Art of Exploitation might be good though I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I have the book online along with the cd ripped off if anyone wants it. Just pm me.

George Orwell's classical book "1984" is not a hacking related book, but a very interesting story about what happens when the government get too much power and can control the whole people. I believe it suits most people with a "hacker mind" ;)

I second UberOn, in fact there is a Project Gutenberg (Australia) e-text you can download for free.

I read a lot of books; for technical ones: Hacking: The Art of Exploitation, 2nd Edition (which I downloaded for free) Python Cookbook and Foundations Of Python Network Programming, (same) the Linux Handbook, Underground: Tales of Hacking, Madness and Obsession on the Electronic Frontier which can be downloaded for free (legally), Free as In Freedom and a lot of pdfs on various topics I downloaded from many sites.

For fiction; I've read Stephen King, H.P Lovecraft, William Gibson, George Orwell, J.D Salinger and other classic works.
