Presario 1235 linux possible

hey i got Compaq presario 1235 laptop from a thrift store were i live and i was wondering wat linux os do you guys think would run on this i installed red hat and it wont get to the gui ive also tried installing ubuntu kubuntu madriva and fedora none of them would get through the install though any help i can get would be useful i was just wondering your opinion im still doing research on google too. thanks

well i made the other account because when i log on i am automaticall laoged out and i want the admins to see it works

edit: ok well if it was done twice then either the refuse to fix it or me and infam0us found another way around it.
