Well im off to university this summer and just looking into a laptop to take on campus with me for notes etc. Most of my work will still be done on my PC, but i want a laptop to take for traveling etc.

So i came across the Eee PC Its 8.9 inch screen, runs on linux, but can have windows, with 20GB SSD. Its got a gig of ram and genrally sounds pretty awesome. And they are between £250 -£350 depending on the model.

So i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

well, I didn't exactly own a eee pc, but i've used a friend's eee pc, which he installed ubuntu to replace xandros.

the ubuntu distro was installed on a memory card, and there are some patches needed for the distro, and it runs well.

The eee pc is used marketed for the education sector, but i'm not so sure about using it for coursework, since the screen is a bit small (but you can see it properly)

I'd suggest get a proper laptop for coursework.

My only complaint for the eee pc is the keyboard size, which makes typing a bit hard.

But other than that, I'd say it's even cooler than the Macbook Air.

I have the 7 inch version, and it truly is amazing. Got Backtrack 3 beta installed on there, so for hacking and coding its great, but you could just as easily leave xandros on and use it, its such a light lappie, looks just like a small book. Recommend it any day.
