this pisses me off.

just a bunch of SKs trying to be leet. it's douchebags like this that give real hackers a bad name.
edit: and i might be overreacting, just thought i'd see what everyone has to say about this.
not nesicarily.
we need a little culling every now and then. if you can call that incident that. I await the textual reflex of those who's faces are blank; those who egarly share their "opinions" (is it "them" or the complex?)
in any case, it's probably nothing that a good CRT monitor couldn't handle xD
well, there is no conection between that and skid. JS inject was all they needed, and it was probably done for fun. But seriously, just because they have a hard time looking at strobing lights, why are they any different from other people??
No wonder people get "social engineered" so easily. ssoo fucking predictable, so simple.. You need to ask questions, not read answers. Destroy the world, see what happens.
@ op, you must be very 1337 by default if you can point out the SK and unethical, evil "hackers". Wouldn't happen to be christian/religous by any chance, would you? …funny…
Erm……. Okay then…….
Nobody was killed and a few people had seizures - compared to the acts of natonal security around the world (MI5 CIA FBI Interpol etc) this pales into insignificance!!!!
I feel sorry for anyone affected but not as sorry as i feel for the f***ed up people who are posting inane and unjustifiable accusations on the news site. So far they have blamed SKs, Anonymous and the Church of Scientology!
Maybe it was the Catholic Church Hacking Dept or hey, maybe alien hackers did it????
Who Cares Anyway?
People should really get a life and stop trying to opine on others lives, it was a bad choice of site to hack and if they didn't proxy then they'll be caught - end of.
dex_poet wrote: it was probably done for fun.
no shit they did it just for fun, why else would they do it? how does the fact they did it for fun change anything?
dex_poet wrote: But seriously, just because they have a hard time looking at strobing lights, why are they any different from other people??
okay, say epileptics are no different from other people. the "hackers" made flashy images on the pages. disregarding the whole health thing, nobody thinks they're cool or 1337 or whatever (hopefully). maybe it isn't different. but in any case, making flashy images appear on a forum classifies you as (more than likely) an SK trying to be cool.
besides that though, maybe you should do some research and figure out what you're talking about. they don't just "have a hard time looking at strobing lights", it's worse than that.
dex_poet wrote: @ op, you must be very 1337 by default if you can point out the SK and unethical, evil "hackers". Wouldn't happen to be christian/religous by any chance, would you? …funny…
but you can agree with me that js injections just for the fun of it are pretty SK-ish right? and when did i claim to be 1337? since when does it even take a 1337 hacker to point out SKs?
and you look at my post and assume i'm religious? someone please explain to me how posting about some wannabe hackers classifies me as religious. for the record i think religion is bullshit.
so no i'm not talking about ethics, i'm talking about some punks being assholes. we all agree there's assholes out there right, without there necessarily being morality?

No it doesn't compare to the horrible things that have happened in this world but still purposefully trying to give people seizures is not a cool thing to do.

I gotta agree with you there.

And I'm sure your a "real hacker". Listen to spyware you fail…
In a sick way I find this kinda funny, Really.[/quote]
Haha yeah, I got some lulz out of it too but was too ashamed to admit it :p:right:

I read it, but until you can post with some semi-decent grammar, I see no point in responding. not worth the time. plese try again.
And I think your SK for not being a Christian. No ethics, you know? You're basically just a common criminal. It's people like you that give "Kitty Kannon" a bad name! fuckin anti-christ kat killer.
notice the unrelated comparison(s)? ;D
Okay…whether you want it or not "Human Hacking" is on its way…These are just the first steps..there are "Evil" if you may people that want to harm people. Its not Technology….If our "latest tech thing" was a baseball bat they would use that….its just what people have at their hands….i have even read about where these people Wireless hacked a pace maker….making it possible to shock on demand or just turn off….what would you say to that when people start attacking? Its Just Society…..Peoples Natural Urge to do Wrong…think about it….you don't Teach a Kid how to act bad do you?…just some of my thoughts
cis_slayer wrote: i have even read about where these people Wireless hacked a pace maker….making it possible to shock on demand or just turn off…. i dont know where you heard that, but it's not true. you can't wirelessly hack a pacemaker. they dont have wireless receivers and the programming is hardcoded into the firmware.
@op - i agree that what the people did is wrong and they're assholes for doing it. i dont think there's enough evidence to call them skids, but they are (like moshbat said) twats.
dex_poet wrote: I read it, but until you can post with some semi-decent grammar, I see no point in responding. not worth the time. plese try again. i didnt see anything particularly wrong with his grammar.

it's ok, dex_poet is just trying to find an excuse not to respond to what I said.
everyone else understood it, why couldn't you understand it? looks like somebody's trying to change the subject.
oh yeah, and it's "please" not "plese." please try again with some semi-decent spelling.
edit: and yes it may be too soon to call them skids. "twats" sounds nice.
edit 2: looking back, it seems most of you have a different opinion than I do. that's fine, I can accept that. let's just move on about it k?
I guess some of it was clarified in the next comment. Somehow, ynori's always right (really). I didn't like how arkangle broke up my sentence for a quote though.
And I used to have seizures, probably from not eating or sleeping when I should have. But there are a lot of things that people wrap up into a label, like an illness, to avoid …something. Look at the people that seem to be bragging that they are f'ed up on drugs, or that talk themselves into having somethin like bi-polar (or whatever other condition. The harder to pronounce the better too.)
There are a million things like exercise, nutrition, and emotional balance that are ignored by the very people who should really know these things. These things are guaranteed to deal with what they say they have, but they are avoided (no time, too hard, running makes me itch, etc). That’s why I generalize and lose sympathy. People just want a "quick fix" in the form of a pill. People who are serious though, would have broken their situation down into its elements, not gone for the title (epilepsy site).
@ the rest, you want to be cops, not hackers. just a thought, try it on for size.

alright man, I see where you're coming from. hadn't really thought of it that way before but ok.

did some research, heres an article about it
Its a good read
heres a snipit
The threat seems largely theoretical. But a team of computer security researchers plans to report Wednesday that it had been able to gain wireless access to a combination heart defibrillator and pacemaker.
They were able to reprogram it to shut down and to deliver jolts of electricity that would potentially be fatal — if the device had been in a person. In this case, the researcher were hacking into a device in a laboratory.
Feralas wrote: did some research, heres an article about it

i guess i stand corrected. although you would have to have an understaning of the device to be able to do this. the average hacker wouldnt be able to.
Listen, your title doesn't fit this stupid link. I wouldn't even call that hacking. That's called stupidity. Yah..so what, they thought of a clever way to fuck with retarded people..big whoop. And what's this about a script kiddie..??? You don't need a program to insert code in a forum..haha..just thought you should know just in case you've been educated otherwise.
P.S.–> The only thing that pisses me off is that i didn't think of that first.
sacureatay wrote: all an average hacker would have to do is look up information on the device no, you would need to know quite a bit about the device and you would need the right software to do the job. you can't just upload any old program into anything you want. it has to fit certain specifications. the people who did this were a team of scientists who knew exactly how the device was programmed and how it was built.
i know someone who works at medtronic, and here's what he had to say:
While device manufacturers perform significant environmental testing to assure devices perform in normal environments and warn about environments that could potentially interfere or cause malfuntion, as with any electronics, there always exists the possibility that someone with appropriate equipment and intention could interfere with proper operation. However, intelligent communication is another matter, since a programmer with the right software is also required to communicate with a device. I find the prospect of "hacking in" and changing device settings in any consistent manner, even one with remote monitoring, extremely unlikely. Even though a programmer will interrogate any device (again with appropriate software) for identity, it will not even communicate further with the device without the proper device software. Just as a computer will interrogate a file but cannot communicate properly with the file without the right software.
EDIT: this is getting off topic. sorry about that.
To me, this thread is more alive than half the other "active" ones.
@ mosh, I don't get it. What is the cup for? Are we baking something? And these could become endlessly crazy. ex:
Slip mescaline into grandpa's skim, lactose-free, artificial milk. Add other pills to grandpa's medication (like XTC) Any sort of Rube Goldberg contraption. Wheelbarrow him over to a nursing home, ring doorbell, and run (like babies at the orphanage). Just turn up the TV volume the next time he says he has chest pains. Wear a monster mask the next time he says he has chest pains. Put on some Slayer, close the blinds, lock the doors, and turn out all the lights the next time he says he's having chest pains. Enter his name for a BDSM movie Practice playing "doctor" (not going into details) Pretend you're the Chinese government, sell him to a US for "science"
