Does anyone snowboard?

Me, the missus and a couple of mates are going to learn for my birthday =]

I already know how to ski, but none of my mates do, so we have all decided to learn to snowboard.

Just hope its not too hard.

anyone got any pointers?

yeah dont fall down to much :P and maybe dont putt to much weight over the front foot. Otherwise i think you have to learn on youre own. I have been snowboarding now for 13 years. Good luck and i hope you will have fun.:)

Yah, I snowboard. It doesn't take that long to learn the basics (Harder to learn than skiing ). But you will spend a lot of time falling. Hope you don't bruise to much. :D

I love snowboarding!! I try to make it up to Denver every year.

Anyway, for the op: Make sure you clinch your fists when you think you are going to fall. You want to watch out for your wrists. I have a cousin who broke her wrists when she first started out. Other than that just enjoy it. You will probably walk away a bit stiff with a couple of bruises but it's all worth it. :)

On a side note: Skiing is gay. :P

I know this isn't snowboarding, but when I went skiing, I accidentally went down a black diamond as my first hill. It was crazy. Since then, falling down never really bothered me. It has actually become rather fun. Like, I won't go trying to fall, but I'm not afraid of it either. A few bumps here and a few bruises there never hurt anyone.

lol I remember years ago, when it was my first time snowboarding, I would purposefully make my self bail in order to stop my self from going faster because I had not quite caught on to snaking just yet.

First time I went down, I didn't know how to slow, stop, turn, anything, so I ended up running into this metal fence that stops people from flying off the hill. That shook me up pretty bad, so I just decided to fall whenever I got too close to anything. Good times.

I've been snowboarding for about 5 years now…

but I will never get tired of it.

I can survive for month in Alaska if you give me snowboard, a copy of sports illustrated and a box of cheetos.

sweet

i know what you mean tho

and ex girlfriend of mine taught me how to ski. she just took me to the top of a green run and told me i had to get back down. Falling was the only way i knew how to slow down, so now falling doent seem too bad to me =]

You can't define weather falling on snow hurts or not, It all depends on the situation, Speed what you hit…how you land…You called fall 40 feet and walk away in this world or you could fall six and it could be the end of you…..Just have a positive attitude and all should be fine.

I'm sure it does…Not my cup of tea though, Don't like cold..And got a really stupid irational fear of snow since the accident I stated above.

erm i dont think you can learn how to snowboard in just one day :)

2 weekends might still be pushing it a bit. good luck though.
