Tor: Yes or no, why and why not.

So how do you browse anonymously online? Do you use proxies or tor?

I havent been able to find a reliable proxy that doesnt slow me down sooo much. And then i found tor.

But the last 'exit node' can read whatever you have been sending. So in theory you could just set up a node and harvest passwords and shit, right?

Any other input on tor?

yeah, but tor uses many proxies, and it has security weaknesses that can be used to dump information that is passing through the last node. im wondering if people here think the weaknesses outweigh the benefits or not.

For common internet usage tor is more than capable of performing it's job. If you want REAL security you need to tunnel through a few systems yourself, manually.

HBH? Nothing. Emails? Depend on what emails.

I suggest you don't use any of them. Remember that you send the information to a proxy … this proxy can do anything with this information. A direct connection is always better. SSH is good when you are on a public network otherwise it change nothing.

Proxy are there to hide your real IP … why would you need to hide it from your email site ? bank site ?

i tunnel everything through a few ssh servers i've got if i want secure, ssh tunnel ==> 256 bit ssl ==> website, good luck sniffing hte packets as they leave MY house :)

^^^agree use ssh servers then circumvent afterwards not seeing me brother^^^
