Good hacker movies
today, i saw the famous movie, called "Hacker" (now i'm finally know from where comes some quotes and nicks, e.g. zerocool or crash override) but this is not point of my topic. i just want to ask, if there are some else good movies about hacking, except the hacker 2 and 3, i saw them, but they werent too good as original hacker. so if someone can recommend me, i will look at it. thanks.

I'm pretty sure this dancuc fellow isn't taking these movies seriously, he understands that they are a parody of us, movies made for the masses by overpaid businessmen who will never understand our culture. of course i'm not taking this movies seriously. i'm still searching for movie that will be REAL. when i was young, and i got hacked for first, oh, 'hacked' is not the right world, i caughted virus, that day i had infected 891 files. it was in year 2002 i think. i start hating hackers. for the next 3 years i've believed that hackers are evil, with absolutely no knowledge about hacking or what hacking is. i know, i was fool.
i'm 100% sure, that in the year 2002, if i see that movie called 'Hacker' that i've seen today, i will say: "yes, this is right! this is the real hacking!" now i know the difference between white and black hats, and that not all hackers are evil. yes, i've defaced some pages, ok. but number of those pages will not reaches the 10. i just do that, because i wanted to know that i can do that. now i've also know, that there was better technique in 1989 than in that movie. yes yes, old transatlantic cabels, modems etc…
ok dude, no worry, i just want to see some movies because i'm bored. those i've seen wasn't real, but it has good scenario.
btw.. hope i will never get flamed for this, i just writed a little bit more about myself
well i looked for wargames all over the tubes but havent found it yet. antitrust is pretty good, hackers is bad, swordfish is also good.
i found this pretty comprehensive list of hacking movies, thogh having seen most of those, i can tell you only half are actually about hacking. but you might still find the other ones interesting:

Tron and Real Genius are the best ones on the list, easily. The best one, which I am unable to remember the name of at the moment, was not on the list and was banned in a number of countries. If I ever find the name of it again, I'll post it… only got to see it once a few years back.

Folk, you could always check if your library has Wargames, that is what I did - America has a great library system.

Perhaps if you tell us the plot, someone will know what you are talking about.
I watched WarGames and Antitrust this weekend. Did not like WarGames that much. Antitrust was pretty good. Hackers was terrible yet amusing.

But what I hate with movies is that it takes about 5min for people to hack the FBI or whatever they need to hack… -_-
yes like in swordfish where the guy hacks some top security thing by typing fast and whilst recieving oral sex.
he also "builds" a trojan type thing out of rotating coloured blocks on the screen - a strange concept of programming

BURN! oh i'm sorry for my grammar. but i'm not from the Czech republic and i'm not speaking English very good. sorry for that.
to the topic: yes i've seen the firewall too. it was good, but there was a very little hacking content.

it goes under all 3 names. banned in the USA. Its about Kevin Mitnik. It actually has REAL HACKING in it. Tho the story diverges a bit from the real story about Mitnik, it is pretty good.
i think it was banned because it showed kevin mitnick was not really guilty of anything. so i guess the US doesnt want that kinda thing going around saying that their law system sucks. but also if you watch Freedom Downtime (a 2600 documentary about this movie) it tells you how most of the events in this movie are not true and all. i personally liked takedown because it was way more interesting than all the other hacker movies. Hackers is also good. swordfish not too much. wargames is fun at the beginning but the ending is a little lame. also the movie "the core" has a hacker in it.. not really about hacking but some of his lines made me laugh..
yeah i like the core's hacer, when he hacks a cellphone for free calls for life with chewing gum wrapper in less than 2 seconds…lol
live free or die hard is ridiculous with the fire sail and the bad guy hacking any video camera in the street in less than 3 seconds its hillarious. transformers' hacking parts are just stupid "there is only one guy in the world who can decode this signal" which turns out to be a fat guy in downtown DC that likes to eat donuts."
operation takedown is really not that good and has as many unrealistic things about hackers as any hollywood movie.
best part: (mitnick and friend are looking into some 'the matrix'-like looking gibberish scroll down their screens) "ive never seen seen anything like this before….it looks like the code of a virus…and the code of a worm all rolled up together!"
The first Matrix? Morpheus said "This is where we broadcast our pirate signal and hack into the Matrix." If you have an imagination it relates to hacking anyways.
And I kinda think its an example of object oriented programming when Neo does his crazy stuff inside The Matrix
EDIT: didn't see Uberon wanted a realistic one. But The Matrix is good.
I think it's like the perfect example. The whole "there is no spoon" thing… It was really a story of how a programmer (Neo) had to get out of design view so he could get something done.
And that's why Neo was always better than the agents. Because he could actually edit the code, they could only follow. And of course, the "fate" thing was nothing more than a compiled version of Matrix 2.0 (2.0 Since "The One" died before). Morpheus: "The rules are similar to a computer program; some of the can be bent, and other's broken."
I think it is also possible to find religion in that movie, but that's a longer story. Funny part is, I don't have a TV (other than a computer)
He did a good job of getting by the agent smith virus though. It was simply no match for Neo's firewall (when Smith tried to corrupt him after seeing the oracle in #2)
And there is no arguing that Neo can beat all odds. Even when Smith "killed" him in the first one.
It wasn't a logic bomb. It was a "restore to factory settings" from the Trinity file. All he needed after that was a "Now get up." boot command and some OS/ malware updates. And he didn't die really - there was a copy stored in RAM or something. Stealth mode.
He even beat the army of infected .PPL in episode 3.
Face it. Neo is pretty cool. You think it's easy hacking into an agent? (especially one that plays an Elvin ruler on the side)
I Must Admit Even Though Hackers Is A Bit Cheesy and Out Dated It Is My Favorite FIlm Of ALl Time, Hackers 2 (Operation Takedown) Is Awsome As Well But Shame The Story Line Is Corrupted By The US Media, and Im Downloading All Other Films People Said :)
I Love Freedom Downtime I'd Sujjest Watching That - http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-6746139755329108302&q=kevin+mitnick+site%3Avideo.google.com&total=26&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0
