Question about Avatars and Sigs

I designed my own sig and avatar with gimp (saved as jpeg), and uploaded them to my web host, but it doesnt work when i try to set them as my avatar or sig. do the pictures need to be formatted in some way or maybe do the pictures need to come from a registered domain name? mine isnt a registered domain name, just a free web host.

what exactly are you typing in?

i'm typing the url for the image. same as when you just use an image from a google image search.

it could be your host is saving bandwith by detecting the fact that the images are being requested by another server and such, so it doesnt respond to the request.

just put them on photobucket.
