Linux
lol http://damnsmalllinux.org/ Put it on a flash.
Yeah, or Xubuntu will run off flash too. If you're new to Linux, try that, it runs fast and clean.
DamnSmallLinux is good too, its the first distro I used
and rofl @ lesser!!!
and… er… I kind of agree with him/her/it (haha)…
Download and run? You have to install it somehow… whether you dd a preexisting installation from a friend's hdd onto one of yours or install from CD or what. Just go out and buy a CD though! You won't get the full experience running a virtual machine, although it is a good way to try out different 'flavors.' There's really no point just using a virtual machine all the time though… but ask for help before installing so you don't wipe your hard drive!!!
And putting it on Flash… wouldn't you need to already have a virtual machine or LiveCD to do that?
Im pretty sure it runs on nano fine :) search rockbox its replacement firmware for Ipod!!!
No, the first gen nanos are ok It's the second gen that are different… I have the red AIDS iPod haha
It is different in both hardware and software; and the firmware is encrypted, so no one has yet figured out exactly how the new iPod works. Hence, it is impossible to install any alternative firmware on it. the iPodLinux website has more info on it
and yeah its teh same for rockbox or any alternative firmware. Essentially, the second gen nanos are locked.
