My old lan was world accessable… unless that has a special name :S

Doesn't matter, if they would sniff for an 192.169.x.x address they would just end up in their own network. ;). It's a bit like the 127.0.0.1 address :D

"Vulnerable?"

Yeah, 192.168.x.x addresses are internal IPs… they aren't valid for travel outside of that network. 10.x.x.x and 172.16.x.x - 172.32.x.x are the same way.

If they sniffed for a 192.169.x.x address, they'd probably find one, since it's not a public IP set. That one's 192.168.x.x, tho… And, really, it's not at all like the 127.0.0.1 address… that's a loopback, which just sends all traffic directly back to the computer you're on.

okay what you need to do is pick up the laptop move it adjacent to the router raise it to you face and take a deep breathe in through your nose. Well done you just sniffed your network ^.^

Raise the router or the laptop? And is the laptop considered second-hand snort?
