ok i got my windows sam file but now what?...

Hi I made a boot disk that copies the sam file to the disk. :happy: But now how can i get the passwords from it?:|

i have been trying stuff but i don't get anywhere:angry: please help

Try saminside or pwdump, one should work.

As long as I have physical access, if I were wanting to use a boot disk to copy the SAM file and use another program to crack the SAM file from the boot disk… then I would probably hit up Sourceforge and download Ophcrack.

If you need to crack a SAM file that you didn't get by physical access to the computer, then Cain & Abel or JTR should work. As far as I can recall, pwdump only dumps the hashes, and saminside inserts new hashes into the SAM… Of course, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
