Booting Ubuntu Via Virtual PC

I'm trying to boot Ubuntu using virtual pc, but when I try and install the OS to my virtual HD it keeps getting stuck here:

I think the Cd is scratched, try using a new burned CD…….

i dont have the cd. i downloaded the .iso think its a bad iso?

Use Vmware instead and see if u have the same problem. Use scsi hard drive when u create a virtual machine. Use fdisk and create the partitions before install(idk if u are using a distro that guide u to format).

/dev/sda1 primary partition make it bootable from 0 to +3500M /dev/sda2 type=82 swap

This partition table should work fine.

Ubuntu normally prompts for partition, try a fresh install, try to find an md5 of the iso….

well you know that an md5 checks the integrity of the file, so get a program to check the md5 against the ISO.

i used fastsum and it gave me the same checksum as the download page gave me

hmmm, you iso is fine then.

maybe you configed the virtual hd wrong? too little resources? what RAM does the virtual machine have?

know that RAM is fine, im running Ubuntu on 128mb now……i am not really sure, i will have a think and let you know this evening…..

try posting on the Ubuntu forums, they are very quick and helpful, and you will get helped by an Ubuntu developer so they know what they are talking about……:radio:

right. well, i think virtual pc just didnt like ubuntu or perhaps the iso i had, i got this running using knoppix instead. thanks for ya'lls help tho
