Ubuntu language problem

Guys i want to read few Russian .txt files on my ubuntu but when i open them in Openoffice it ask me for language and i select Russian but i still cant read it… none of my text editors can read that file… there are just some fake symbols.. help me out guys :D my yahoo is: zerone73@yahoo.com if you want to talk with meh

I'm not sure if this will work..but can you maybe try:

sudo apt-get install texlive-lang-cyrillic

?
