bit torrents + download speed
im getting incrediably slow download rates using BitComet (around 3 - 5kbs per torrent)
I googled like mad, and emailed my router manufactorer. I found out i need to forward the ports to my machine, which i have done. Yet, i still get slow download rates. I have tried, reconfiguring my router / firewall / network settings, yet nothing works. BitComet is surposed to forward the ports automatically, which is whyi chose it. However, it doesnt appear to be working.
Anyone have / had the same problem and knows how to fix it??
i dunno how to fix your problem but i'll tell you what i use in case you want to switch. downloading: abc the sites: torrentspy, torrentreactor, btefnet as for the dl speeds i get from 30kbs-200kbs which is decent, hope that helps;)
I am unsure about all the port fowarding and stuff but do you know that if your upload speed is at the MAXIMUM that download speeds will suck. My connection downloads at about 500 Kbs a second (broadband if i dont have the capitilzation right) and my maximum upload speed is 45 Kbs. I usually have my upload speed at about 20-25 and any higher than that I can see that download speeds will crash. I also use Bitlord.
It's probably those assholes that turn their computer off or exit the client after they finish downloading the torrent. This causes extreme slowness, downloading torrents is like… uh… hmm… i guess like filling a glass. Say there are seven people at a table, and you are trying to get a little more water to fill the glass, so someone gives you a little bit(meaning you download from someone else downloading the torrent that has a part you don't)and then another person gives you a little bit, making you closer to having a full glass. But then someone that already has a full glass, who doesnt want to share, leaves the table, thus meaning you will be farther from reaching your destination of a full glass. Wow, that was a mouthful. Hope you got all that, Psycha

i guess u are rite but u still can use IRC which is the best still… becauze u usually get active downloads.. even with my slow 128kbps connection which costs 100$ in Maldives i get abt 10-18 kbps in IRC
switch to Azureus! its the best one i've used so far. Fast and reliable:) here's a link http://azureus.sourceforge.net/
he doesnt use it hte whole time, which makes it harder to track when he uses it.
plus, we had a "IT Specialist" setup our network.. he did such a shit job, that i cant change ANYTHING (included passwording and encrypting my router).. without it messing up my MAC address, which in turn, fucks up my whole network… (i have no idea why that happens)
so, i cant really do alot.. other than throw rocks in his window when i see his wireless adapter leaning out the window ;)
lol, that infuriates me… [I'm such a hypocriet!(sp?):o] but come on we should be able to do somehitng… atleast start sniffing packets. try and get somehting log stuff gain somehting!
His commputer basically accepts any data from your router once its on, must be a way to make it dla trojan. MUST BE!
I'm lookiing into usinf whoppix to do somehitng :D it'll be fun
