hi, i want to install gentoo on my box, i downloaded universal install cd, but when i try to boot it, nothing do, just shuw grub and start boot opensuse. and i have changed cdrom as first boot device in bios, how can i boot that cd thanks

have u tried holding any hotkey combinations @ boot?? I am reading this right yeah?? Your not able to get your box to boot from the cd correct??

Try : F8 F4 F1 F2 ESC ALT + ESC DELETE etc. etc.

evenually one of those will boot your box from the cd-rom… F12 will do a network boot and then you wouldnt even have to burn the iso! :radio:

newayz.. try those.. if none of that worx then your disc is probably damaged.. try burning it again… if it still doesnt work chck your checksums… which you should have done newayz… If you can't figure it out then sell your computer! :ninja:

yes u are right i can't boot from cd, but only gentoo, all other cds, boot normaly(eg. opensuse, mandriva etc) i only can't boot gentoo cd, i burned it about four times i checked md5 sums, and they was identical i have no idea what i have to do :-(

well, you might try the all in one boot floppy and use that to boot from a CD using gentoo, perhaps that'll help

for onlysmaurai: when i try to boot with this floppy i get error: "Disk Error! 0x0C" i have no ide what is it :-( for Infopirate: sorry i'm english is not my default language, what you meant by w0rd…or handly firefly drive, its name of some software or what? thanks
