Oooopss..Computer Wont Boot!..Help
So my journey into installing linux on dual boot began yesterday. i start to parition my hard drive and specifically said to my missus
'dont touch that plug over there right now plllleeeaaaseee it will kill my computer'
to which she replies 'im not stupid why would i do that'
she then UNPLUGS the computer and plugs in her hair dryer
i died inside
So my problem is. My computer now doesnt load XP. My ubuntu disk wont work so iv eneded up with OpenSUSE on my computer.
1: i dont really know what im doing with openSUSE (can someone tell me how to run .exe and other installation files in openSUSE)
2: is it going to be as simple as just burning a boot disk and booting up XP again and see alll my lovely files there waiting for me?
I know its newbie stuff, but the reason i was doing the dual boot is because i have never used linux before.
Cheer for your help in advanced

there are some facts… partitioning = format, format = loss of data => partitioning = loss of data (not always, but most of the time. (btw, i hate partition magic )
also the .exe format only works on windows, on linux you would have to install a virtual machine, or i think there is a program that simulates a win environment to run applications, maybe someone else can help more.
before even trying to install linux, you can always try any live cd or dvd with the distro you want, to see what's inside.
Well this is going to sound even Lamer…
i have been looking into linux for a while and i saw a linux magazine which was all about starting linux for the first time etc and had a cd with 'linux starter kit' on it. Thats Ubuntu with some guide etc. so i thought cool, ill see what all the fuss is about.
Whacked it in and partitioned the hard drive, booted from the cd. The fecking CD freezes afer configuring the graphics.
So i scouted round for a while and found an OpenSUSE disk in a bid to get anything but 'Insert a boot disk and press enter'.
Managed to do it and on the 'linux disk' it has linux nvidia drivers etc that i would need to installed but they are in exe. or i think .run
when i run them it askes me which application i want to run them in =/
AND even worse, i tried to re-install windows and it said the partion was the wrong format. But i tried to install it on the NTFS partition not EXT3.

windows can only be installed in an ntfs formated partition.
if you want to install windows + any distro to have a dualboot system you must firstly partition the disk, install windows and then install the linux distro, so that the boot manager grub or lilo auto configures. In case you haven't done so, the things get a bit complicated while you have to configure the boot manager by yourself.
if you want to install windows on top of an EXT3 formated partition you will have to delete the partition and recreate it with the windows boot disk.
