BT2 --> Encryption Issue
Hello, thnx for taking the time to check out my post! AM still learning all the commands in linux and trying to practice using it more then windows, I currently have a laptop dual booted with Windows XP Pro, And BackTrack 2 Stable..
My partition table looks like this..
/dev/hda1 –> ntfs –> 20 Gigabytes Windows XP Pro Installation
/dev/hda2 –> ext3 –> 8 Gigabytes Backtrack 2 Stable Installation
/dev/hda3 –> ntfs –> 8 Gigabytes Free Space Encrypted Volume using truecrypt 5.0a
/dev/hda4 –> SWAP –> 4 Gigabytes (self-explanatory)
Alright, Well now that you have a general idea of how this laptop is set up at the moment here is what I'm seeing…
Windows XP Pro with Truecrypt 5.0a will detect and mount/decrypt my partition exactly how I want it too.. usb firefly key
BT2 on the other hand.. Doesn't have truecrypt by default :(
So my problem is that I'm trying to install truecrypt on the backtrack partition… I read the only post on remote-exploit.org that I could find on the topic.. The link is no good or i'm doing something wrong…
This is what happens…
When I download the source code to compile it ark crashes on me every time with a sigabrt! :@ Therefore, I hope package management is a lil better in the next stable release of Backtrack.. ;)
http://forums.remote-exploit.org/archive/index.php/t-7548.html
Once you read that post you will understand where I'm @…
I've tried every / I can think of 2 get truecrypt.lzm nothing goes thru… I keep gettin index.html's 404 errors
If anyone here uses this OS and has ran in to any kind of similiar situation that could lend some advice to help me get Truecrypt installed & running on my BT2 Install, I would greatly appreciate it!!!
Thanks for reading!
======================================================================= EDIT
Alright, @ this point in time I'm @ this spot in this Conquest of BT2.. lulz
The 2 most obvious options for me @ this point in time are to get TC 5.0a to work under WINE in BT2
or..
To install the TC4.3 slax modules…
I'm workin' on the latter…
I got all the .mo files i think i need and did this process:
bt~TrueCrypt# uselivemod /root/Truecrypt/
Use module on the fly while running Live CD Usage: /usr/bin/uselivemod module.lzm
bt~TrueCrypt# ls TrueCrypt_4_2a_deps_4_2a-1.mo TrueCrypt_for_SLAX_v5_1_0_4_2.mo TrueCrypt_dmsetup_libs_4_1-4.mo Truecrypt_4_2a-1.mo
bt~TrueCrypt# uselivemod /root/Truecrypt/Truecrypt_4_2a-1.mo

Alright, if anyone sees what I'm doing wrong or knows an easier way to do what i'm trying to do I would love to hear it!! lulz thnx!!
