I am currently [edit]running[/edit] Mandriva Spring Dual Boot with M$ Vista.

I was wondering if anybody has any knowledge on how to customize a Linux OS?

By customize i mean change the GUI look, add programs and tools. e.c.t.

If anybody knows how to please PM me or leave a comment.

Thanks in advance.

i've never used mandriva but when i wanted a better GUI look i installed programs like beryl which have much more customizable options then the default desktop manager. But really the prettyness of the GUI is worthless.

Do you mean, themes? or GUI, like "KDE"s, "GNOME"s?

yah, go to:

Start (in KDE) –> "CONTROL PANEL" –> LOOK AND FEEL

Then you will be able to change everything from:

  • Bootsplash Screen
  • Window Decorations
  • Size of Toolbars
  • Transparency
  • Wallpapers
  • Icons

And also, the biggest one is really the theme, which you can grab from sites such as :

and install them. PM me for more details on doing so. Let me see If I have some screenshots of my older systems.

John Lennon for the win, punks!
