.htpasswd Question

Ok i found a .htpasswd file on the site but what can i do with this file?? also ive found the .htaccess file What can i do with these things??

uhhh well you can get the passwords to the directories protected by those files. if the webmaster is an idiot (shich is quite likely) he might have used the same pass on the FTP server or other ares of the site.. allowing you to pretty much own the shit out of them.

ahhh i c Now i saw some of these files before but what hash is this. how do i decode it . I herd about using jtr but i dont understand how to use it because when i open is command prompt comes up then goes away. Any other way of decoding??

Read a tutorial on JtR if you don't know how it works ;) it should be run from the command line, not by double clicking the exe.
