Hackin' the schools router.

So, my school has little security (its an alternative school), and I figured as my first hack, Id get complete access to the network, and all that. I dont plan on doing anything crazy (changing grades, viruses, or anything like that. Just bragging rights, and knowledge. :D). Ive got all the passwords for all the computers and stuff, wasnt hard but its pretty awesome. :D

So, about two days ago I started on the router. Ipconfig /all, default gateway: 10.101.10.1, woo! Easy part's over. I tried getting in through IE, no luck. Googled some stuff. DUH! Telnet. So, I opened up the terminal (I was on a mac, eww! 2nd period has Windows, wewt.), telnetted it up. I tried putting in the admin password and that didnt work, so I tried a bunch of other stuff, no more luck. Theyre running Kerberos (an authentication protocol), so all I need to figure out is how to sniff the password out, or bruteforce it.

And on Friday, one of the hard drives pretty much exploded. I was absent, and I alittle convinced they might blame it on me. shrug

Any ideas, or advice?

bit off topic but that is bs bs and more bs :-) macs are quality u just dont appreciate their majesticness(<– a word?) macs=brillient pc=blah. macs are gorgues so nice to the eye not some shitty gui like windows have and talk about vista trying to copy macs! even then they screwed it up. just go on apple.com and sit back and relax a enjoy the sheer briliences of mac os lepard. brillient!! i could talk about thsi subjects for days!!

vista copying macs??? who just changed over to intel processors??

does that say something about previous mac quality? cahnging architecture is a MASSIVE step for any computin ggoods manufacturer…. horses for cooourses, and macs have many good purposes.. but mainly graphics/editing.

Mac's original architecture was way better then the pentium's the got now. But they needed to do this to get more people to mac's. ;-) And he means windows is trying to copy mac now, they Microsoft doesn't like that mac is gaining a bigger market, thanks to the Ipod stuff etc, people are willing to try other apple products too. Can't blame em, beautifull stuff they got.

Mac's have always been a niche market, always will be.

Mac's can't hope to compete with PC's on their own turf, so they did the smart thing, developed a market and dominated it.

Ok, fine. I will admit. Mac are pretty.

yes because any idiot could make or serch for a virus on google to kill a pc in seconds, they have so many security issues its pathetic. also vista is a joke! xp is soooo much better and if u look at the gui of vista u can see there are similaritys to mac's.

i cannot believe that some school admins are sooooo n00by taht they can let their network get hacked sooooo eaasily. my school for one is a beast, my teacher for one told us wierd and wonderfull storys of his "hacking" days and hwo he exploited this blah blah bklah etc etc

wish my school netowrk was pathetic so i could give it a shot :-)

if they update the server (if your on one) type :: in the IE adress bar youll get the server hex stuff save it in a txt file use the admins password and viola! i did that yesterday… and the teachers tell the the passwords so we can acess stuff.. the admins user and passs is jwall and password spike HAHA so evil now all the computers seem to run faster.. my floppy has 'magic' powers….

i can see the point of macs. the point at issue here is that you totally dismiss PC's on the basis of windows, which is total BS, most people who are serious about security use either linux, or mod the shit out of windows until it's practicly unrecognisable anyway.

the fact is that as a hacking platform macs suffer, due to the lack of available software.

fair does mate, i should of been more specific. i just dont like windows to much as an operating system to much i mean its good for hacking and playings games , other then that i use my mac for just general stuff ie movie editing etc etc
