Does anyone know a good place to learn how to do rooting? I have been trying to root hack.ericj2190.org on rootthisbox.org I know the user and pass but it won't let me type it… does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

it doesnt let you type the password or both pass and username? and you're using putty right? or some ssh client?

try apfel.rootthisboc.com it's easier/more reliable than wathever you were trying to do.

Yeah, it's up at least now. And something strange I found about this one is that the password works in cmd prompt, but not putty. Try to use cmd prompt.

Edit: nm the pass works fine in both, must have been a typo :right:

i tried that one before and it wasn't online.

I am using ms-DoS prompt and when I get to the server and it askes me the password it won't let me type? so it looks like this:

The user name is rtb0 or rtbo (not sure what) The pass is RootThisBox The owner is ericj2190

are you absolutely sure you're not really typing it? cause in putty, I'm pretty sure it keeps the password blank, regardless of what you type…this is for security, so that people can't see what you're typing in, but it's still being typed…

and dude, I just tried it, it connects fine with putty…username is rtb0 btw

yeah man, it's just a silent password.. it is being inputted

yeah, pretty much… until you hit return,. and you either get in or don't… then you can be pretty certain
