A question about Routers

Hello fellow HBHers, I need advice on a slight problem i'm having. It all starts with a girl. There's this girl Morgan that I like, and the only way(besides in school) to talk to her is through Myspace. Well, my dad has a grudge against mspace, and blocked it using our router. I know I can unblock it if only I could figure out the password… My question to all of you here at the community, is how can I get that password, short of straight out asking my dad(I know he ouldn't just give it to me)? The thought crossed my mind of using a brute-force or dictionary attack, however I don't know if that's the best route to go. If it is, could someone give me a link to a good article explaining how to obtain/use the brute forcer? Thanks, ~Malaris

Yeah, i've tried proxies, they work, but to a limited extent. My father also saw fit to block a large amount of proxies, so even some of those don't work. The reaction it has to proxies is that I can log in to myspace, click on a few links, and then for some reason I think the proxy is wiping the cookies, because I am forcibly logged out, and have to log back in again, making the process repeat :(

If its a linksys, hold down the reset for 30 to 45 seconds and it will default the router…..

Other then that…. i dunno… If you were to ask me about a cisco router I could help ya out…but I dont think you have one of those…

What is the make/model of the router?

cmd -> ipconfig

get your default config.

in your browser goto: http://[default gateway]/

it will ask you for login: user: admin pass: admin

that will probably work. most people dont change their default login settings.

my router is a actiontec brand, i'm not sure of the model right now(on school computers at the moment), I do know that unplugging it and replugging it in does not reset it to default.

Yeah, usually on consumer brand routers there is a small pin-hole next to the power input plug that you have to depress for a few seconds to clear it's settings.

Use this link to find the default username/password for your router…it's a pretty complete listing. http://www.phenoelit.de/dpl/dpl.html
