hes not an idoit. he got right on the logs and found the computer i was at. i wasnt logged in on my name previous to the attempt and there is not camras. me and my friend were standing outside the lab when he went into his beserker mode. hes just mad suspicious of me. idk why. 2nd thing he did was come and ask if it was me.
and as for my degree, its called the degree of alot of free time after school with nothing to do but try stuff with the school network. I've been going to my school for about 3 years now. my list of handy information is pretty big. i actually just keep a 2 gig flash on me with the list of all the known ips that i have. passwords to some of the admin accounts some programs to access LDAP software a remote access shortcut, firefox, and other handy things. I've found about 2/3rds of the ways to break into the network i think it would be sweet to try and patch some of the stuff speaking of which it seems like no school network i've looked at has found a way to stop people from making CMD prompts and BAT files. why is that?
LOL, i agree with tancurrom, the hirings a bit far. And if your dumb enough to carry around a flash drivve with "admin passes" and ip's, then you will get caught. And why would you care for admin passes anyway's? sounds kinda lame. Though i may have to take back the hireing though, since i was hired-(well not really, no pay, but a semester of college payed) to help out in the techno dept at my school. Til they thought i put a virus on one of the computers. Got suspended for 10 days. Anyhow, good luck with that, if i were you i wouldnt carry evidence in my pocket personally. They searched me and found a small .bat file program on a disk i had after tryin to strip search me (gay fags). The techno guy convinced them it was a hazardous program which got me in more trouble. lata
i dont carry my flash on my person @ all times. usually in my bag or locker or on my keyring. its got tons of stuff on it(nothing important is properly labeled.) but when im at a good comp with a bit of free time i usually grab some programs or something i find on the computer and work on it at home. For example they put alot of stuff on all the computers in a room at once usuing batch files. and they keep the computers from getting cluttered using a deep freeze program. one computer they worked on physically had the batch files and some information under "recent documents" and it stays there permanantly cus thats the way they saved it. i had a few mins and put them all on a flash. when i got home… found two accounts in there that are pretty useful.
anyway back on topic i think i can say goodbye to those accounts cus apperantly they have logs that save everything that loaded to that computer/ was downloaded. and i opened that doc. in text format cus i wanted to see if the pass of the account i havent used works with the admin. pretty lame. but i went to school today and didnt get in any trouble.
edit: why wouldent i care for admin passes?
Well, there's no real reason to have the administrative passwords.
Unless you intend to do something terrible, like modify the school database, etc., the information is useless. If you are planning to do something like that(and please don't), carrying the flash card around is the dumbest thing you could possible do.
It's fun to find out the administrative passwords, but limit the evidence to what you can keep in your head.
`nuvix
well its fun to know the admins passwords. I know my admin password and i use it rarely. Mainly to put files onto other students accounts to have them open some fun javascript program that i made. like open 10 million pop up boxes. tons of fun… Besides that i dont really use the admin for anything else. takes all the fun out, too easy. Our computer teacher is cool anyways and would say o crap i need to change it.
i dont often use any of the accounts but there is some pretty cool stuff you can do with them. Also i havent ever used any hacking knowledge to do anything malicious, simply to bend the rules. and if i had wanted to do something malicious it would take maybe 10 mins of research and 2 mins at my school. All the main computers are open to remote access… idk why im prolly gonna report that b4 i graduate. but the computer that runs the schools media. the admins desktop computer, headend admin-serv nothing is secured and the only thing that would stop any random person from walking in is the fact that u have to have admin privileges to logon to those comps. Lame? yes.

I should probably let you in on a secret here. If the ability to run CMD and BAT files aren't blocked. Then, he is not a good administrator. And for that matter, you should NOT be hired. Instead, they should fire the old administrator and bring in a new one who at least has an compTIA certification.
The running of BAT and CMD in our school is nearly impossible.
We can;t create short cuts on the desktop. We can't click run. We can't virtually do anything.
Can someone please send loads of emails with anything malicious on to LeeC@woodchurch-high.wirral.sch.uk. Even if you email bomb that account I will be happy :)
helllo HBH.
A while back, i got in trouble at my school for using a comp virus that crashed their server (nuke style) but it was on total accident( its a long, yet funny story :] ). In ur case, no u wont go to jail. If i didnt end up in jail for my crime, then u wont. maybe ull get suspended, cause thats all i got, and only 2 days of it. So dont worry :)
It sucks at my school because we've already had a hacker go through the school and sometimes when he got bored he would mess around with things :ninja:. So now they locked a lot of stuff, it's kind of ridiculous because they even locked down wikipedia :o, but I've still found ways around stuff like that :p.
Most admins are really big headed. I found an exploit in the college web site which I then made a small report suummarising the error and possible fixes, i then went on to email this to the admin. I sent it from my what_a_legend hotmail account so they didnt know it was a student, and its work ex week and i didnt get a placment and I been assigned to work with the college admin's and whist sat in there today to my dis may they just looked at my email and deleted it. Any hacks carried out on a school system are perfectally valid in my oppinion as long as the admins are being over confident.
This sounds like you think you know a lot because you can get a few IPs of servers and crack retarded admins passwords who most likely use dictionary based passwords. a lot of the items you are boading about are really useless. Here is my challenge to you.
Get YOUR account into admin mode without anyone noticing.
I did that in highschool and all it did was help me. I never got caught but hey why would I? I knew the admin and chatted with him all the time. He is now the admin for the entire board here where I live :P
sniffing a network is not hacking it is a job anyone who knows what CMD is can do. Learn to Hi-Jack and such then you can start this "hiring" bit.
Just because you can gain access to a few admins (and just because they know where logs are stored) does not make you (or the admin) good with computers. I am sorry if I am sounding rude or like an ass but I am tired of people coming on here saying "I hacked my school network…should I be scared?" hacking the school network involves a lot more than gaining admin passwords given to you by someone else (even though it was false).

May Be My Messg Was A Little Unclear, What I Meant To Say Was That There Is No Such Suspension In Our College If We Get Caught. (I Never Was Caught, And I Made That Sniffer Myself and Gave My Teacher The Code Too)

Did That…..

For a little bit I thought it'd be cool to be able to "hack" your school network. But I figured it'd just be lame unless you can actually do something cool (Like what aldarhawk did). There's kids at my school that think they can hack because they used search to find admin, then got admin tools that are of no use because you can't use em unless you ARE an admin. Also the kids that think that using a proxy that they didn't even set up, just found, is hacking. Eh, the only thing I do is mess around with a batch file I made that can execute commands (yea, really simple, I know), and just go through random shit. But they took away my study hall (It's like just a free period you have that you can do homework in or obviously study, just for those of you that didn't know) and so now I never have access to the computers :-\.
lucky you lot. in my school i could probably count those who could use a proxy on my fingers. Its good in one way tho the admins dont suspect that anyone really uses them. also everyone who knows u can do it thinks wow he can get passed netpilot he must be a really good hacker so its really amusing even if i do get constant requests from ppl asking me to teach them to do it.
tho i hate it when i try start explaing to sum1 and they just call you a geek

woah there killer. First off: i didnt try to dictionary crack it. Someone was like THIS IS THE ADMIN PASS!!! and i tried like 3 variations of it. secondly i didnt get in trouble beacause there wasnt a way to trace it to me. thirdly- im pretty sure curiousity isnt a crime fourthly-wasnt this thread dead for like 3 weeks?
I agree school networks suck. Our admin is a kool guy though, he plays WOW from 6pm to like 2am everyday, so he's pretty understanding of how we are…He lets us use proxy's and stuff to visit whatever we want…except porn of course.
The thing I hate most is that when you discover a proxy thats not blocked, you tell your best mate then he tells someone, then eventually everyone in the school knows about it and it spreads to other regions and eventually gets blocked lol. But I saved a list of proxies on my account at school so I just scroll down those, take my pic and bam, new proxy :D
The Aussie school systems are undergoing a massive overhaul at the moment which has left it with major bugs. Our school network is down almost every hour and it is very vulnerable to people wanting to mess with it. The other day in my Software Design&Development class we were sitting listening to the teacher then on everyones desktops, weird icons starting appearing, along with web links to meatspin and folders full of porn…lol. Some IT guys that were working on the network rushed in looked then rushed out without a word, went to their comps found who was doing it and took them to the principal…Was quite funny. I love watching the IT guys stress over stuff popping up on the desktop in front of them :D
my crime is that of curiosity. curiosity inspired by rumor. don't quote the mentor on worthless bullshit. it wasn't curiosity it was stupidity.
Our college practically gave us admin, all the computers had telnet open (not passworded), including the servers. i think it was just a point where they were managing them all and couldn't be assed to get off their fat asses and do it room by room.
