John the Ripper

I've been using john the riper to try to crack a hash, but I'm not sure if its actually working. I read the tutorial but it says to press enter to view the status, when I press enter it does nothing, and i cant figure out how to see if its going, and what percent complete it is.:ninja:

There's a few quirks with JTR between OSes.

So, I'm going to write assuming you're working on Windows. :P

If you type "john <password file> -show", you can see your cracked hashes.

In the case it does something, but not cracking (ie: "No password hashes loaded"), then you've either formatted the hash incorrectly (Some take a username:hash type formatting) or you have entered an unsupported hash.
