wondered if anyone knew what it was…

if its from a .htpasswd file it should be in the format of user:thedeshashthere shouldn't it

ah its DES, and yeh but i ddnt wanna compromise the sites security, its a friends you see.

OK solved it, MDcrack identified it as an Apache MD5 hash… never heard of it :p

yeh if anyone else faces this problem, google MDCrack and download it from the Lycos site.
