Email & Javascript

I'm rather new to hacking, but I've been interested in it for a fair while now and I know your basic: Javascript, HTML and SQL.

I've already googled this with no luck.

You know when you get an email from some type of spammy site, you generally get some sort of image along with it.

I've experimented a bit (forwarding the email to myself) and apart from that initial time you get the email sent to you, the code just appears as code. No images show up, but of course you get the <img src="whatever> and so on.

I'm curious as to how to embed HTML and Javascript into an email (and of course having images and scripts show up properly instead of as code).

Is there some way this can be done?

it depends on what email account you're sending the mail to and from. For example, I sent an anonymous email to my friends hotmail address through telnet, that contained the basic script to alert "hello". When my friend opened up the mail, the alert worked. I'm not really sure why hotmail allows this while others don't, or if hotmail still even allows this.

if you want to test it out, i would try setting up a hotmail account, then emailing yourself something through telnet. if you don't know how to do that, you can check my tutorial on it at http://placebo.110mb.com/ and click on the DOS/Telnet link under Learn.
