Unique problem-- plenty of ports, no entry!

OK, so I scanned this IP, and I had nmap save the list of open ports to a text document. I went and looked at the open ports list, it was every single port, 1-65301, with a few exceptions. But none of them appear to actually be accepting connections except 80 (www). Anyone have a clue?

Maybe they are using some kind of firewall to make sure you can't find the real port .. I suppose it's something like that. If all the ports are open, you'll have to search to find the right port en protocol belonging to it.

Indeed. It is possible to configure computers to say that all, or most, ports are open. There are also firewalls and router settings that will get this result. As a few suggestions: scan with -sT or other scan types. Use -T0 or -T1 to avoid firewall lockout. Use fragmentation to possibly bypass firewall policy all together and maybe zombie scan from something else on the network that may be more trusted.

I would agree with honeypot. A really badly configured honeypot or one that is configured that way to try and attract attention, as in this case it has. lol…. You might be the next person to make it on the frontpage of hbh for getting busted!!

Good Luck with that man
