DOS Atttack on Lycos.co.uk

According to a Lycos spokesperson… whom i just spoke to 5 minuites ago,

"Lycos are currently experiancing the longest continous Denial Of Service attack they have ever come accross.

The attack has now been going on for over 27 hours, without Cessation.

Also, the attack appears to be coming from different locations arround the world and is proving almost impossible to lock down."

I wish whoevers doing it would stop …… my websites up there :(

I host my own website with Lycos…… and when it stoppped working I phoned them.

This is what i was told by Lycos themselves.

Just spoke to them again……. its now 1 day and 15 hours of solid DDOS attack =(

oh well it was bound to happen i guess some noobz trying to prove there l33t by nocking out lycos

thats pretty amazing, soneone relly wants lycos down! either that or some SK got a good program , left it running, and went on a holiday!

thats what i was thinking. i keep thinking SK. sees a website he dosent like, gets ip, and used DDoS program, not realising that hes taking down lycos as a whole.

either that or a person was badly wronged, and decided to get revenge.

I don't know a lot about DDoS but I think that it's a group of kids (or ggrown ups with kids brains) who want to be cool. I suppose that they wouldn't make an attack this long if they didn't know that they are taking down something big.

could be as said above, maybe someone has a serious dislike to a website lycos hosts.

and to be fair, lycos should check the content of the sites they're hosting, thats all part of what being a host is about. perhaps they missed something like a racist site or something and someone ddosed it.

then again might just be a idiot looking for 3 seconds of fame.

who knows.

Been to lycos.co.uk and lycos.com and they don't seem to be slowed down at all…
