Ok here is my problem. I am in a server 2003 class and on the last day the teacher wants to do a last man standing. Well i don't know to much about hacking into another computer and turning it off you freezing it up it get bonus points. Not to many people in this class have any real clue on how to do this. So i am looking for some suggestions on how to gain control of computers on a LAN running windows 2003 server.

Sounds a little fishy to me, dont see why a teacher would be doing something like this unless this was a security class. And if this is a secuirty class and he wants to test your skills on something you have no clue about then obviously he didnt do that good at teaching. But you can google around, there is a book out called – Hacking Exposed Windows Server 2003. Im sure you can go down to a book store and find this book, or just try finding an ebook.

I would suggest google and look for "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Security" or "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Hacking" or "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Security Vulnerabilites" or "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Vulnerabilities"

If you do one or more of these searches and read up on all you find then you will have a great head start on many of the other students. If the teacher is doing a "Last man Standing" I take it that Terminal Services is enabled. If it is then you make sure that your passwords are secure and you have a port masker and you will be able to get a better hold on things…another option is make sure you are not on the same POWER BAR as the other people and just unplug them :P That may be cheating but hey it is all in fun right?

We did something like this in my Server 2000 class in College. we took over one anothers T/S Machines and attempted to be King of the hill. The best bet is password changing (everytime you log into the users machine change their passwords :P) Then do a remote shut-down and leave. this will keep you up and running and shoot everyone else off one by one.

Again Google all you can think of to gain the knowlege and then you can get a handle on this you can win this game ;)

My old school had something like this, If you are using windows, use putty. establish SSH to it, change the passwords several times, and to freeze it, run a Denial of Service on it hosted from that box. Hell even: :loop start %0 notepad goto loop

will work to cause 100% CPU. Although, The Hawk's idea of changing passwords all the time will work. Make sure you change the administrator account password if they let you.

If you are using Linux do the same :D
