Someone, while trying to get me to DL cain [i already had it :S] told me you could crack DES with it… erm how? or was he just mistaken, i cant find it on the cracker menu

you can't crack DES with cain, you still have to use jtr for DES but for other encryptions, cain is perfect.. :D

cain can crack basically everything except DES.

as mentioned above, you need John The Ripper, to crack DES

Maybe they meant use cain's wordlist to crack a DES hash ;)
