You remember the old versions of ymsg like those before ymsg 5 ?? I remember there were some "boot codes" like "<snd=con/con>" and etc that would make ur system crash. Now I'm wondering what kind of bug could those be ?? I mean "<snd=yahoo>" or other would make a sound, but why when that "yahoo" was replaced by "con/con" it would crash ?? but "<snd=blahblah>" wouldn't do anything. Just wondering what was so special about "con/con" or some other "boot codes". I know it's history but still I'm curious to know about them

The reason for this is con is a dos reserved word for console, Along with "nul lpt1 lpt2 lpt3 com1 com2 and com3". When the file was sent as con/con windows checks for a single device name used and treats it as invalid but does not check for multiple dos devices (being con/con) When windows tries to open a device name as a resource it would become an illegal action and crash the system.Using any reserved word in an file ext could cause this but this is old and has been patched, There are still some that will work to confuse xp though.Try to save a file as con and windows will reject it as well as the others.
