Real hacking?

Hello, I have been a member here for a while, and i have learned a lot, but I feel that I want to learn some more serious stuff. I haven't had a chance to do anything for real, except a few javascript injections as I don't know what you could do and how to learn how to do it.

I would love to have some help with this, and. if possible I would also want to learn how to break in to computers and stuff like that.

Many thanks, IceCube

P.S I'm sorry for my english but I live in a country where wo don't speak english and I'm still studying it in school.

I would also want to learn how to break in to computers

I feel nice (ie. not in a jackass mood)… so I'll answer nicely and not consider you as a complete SK.

HBH is NOT here to teach you to break into computers. Also, make it an objective to do as many missions as you can. They ARE applicable in real life missions, if you are diligent enought to look for vulnerabilities and exploit them using

I haven't had a chance to do anything for real

If you're really serious, and want to satisfy your curiosity and self-confidence, then go to google and use it as a pen testing tool. For example, looking for sites that run a specific service (that is, of course, vulnerable to a certain attack type) and use it against it.

Then you'll be satisfied and realize that you're a complete jerk and a vice to hacking communities. And maybe, you'll get arrested during the process, and get enough time in prison to make you think twice before breaking into someone's server.

*NOTE: You can either use it maliciously or in a good way. 'Tis your call and future.

Not in a bad mood either, don't take this personal…

HBH is NOT here to teach you to break into computers.

It isnt? Was last time I checked…

Lets check dictionary.com…

Hacker- a microcomputer user who attempts to gain unauthorized access to proprietary computer systems.

(hellboundhackers.com)

Also, make it an objective to do as many missions as you can. They ARE applicable in real life missions

So far, only thing I've been able to apply to real hacking was viewing source and sql injections, both which i learnt from hts…

And last but not least…

First you tell IceCube:

"I'll answer nicely and not consider you as a complete SK"

Then go and tell him:

If you're really serious, and want to satisfy your curiosity and self-confidence, then go to google and use it as a pen testing tool. For example, looking for sites that run a specific service (that is, of course, vulnerable to a certain attack type) and use it against it.

Last time I check, it was considered skiddie to google for vulnerable sites (then again, people have told me using nessus and nmap is skiddie…).

Point is, if you actually are serious about hacking a site, you find the site, then the exploit, not vice versa ;) Goes out to all you "ethical hackers" especially…

So IceCube, you're right, HBH doesn't really teach you to actually go and hack things. If thats your intention, googles your best option (aswell as StumbleUpon, can find you a lot of usefull sites).

hbh mostly helps with web hacking, to .. uh.. "break into computers"… well web hacking is under breaking into computers, if you mean hacking your neighbour's computer with a ready-made program, kill urself, if not, finish some more challenges on hbh and hts and other sites, and improve your programming, and the hacking isntinct will come by itself :P

god wrote: if you mean hacking your neighbour's computer with a ready-made program, kill urself

There ya go again…

For the last time:

USING PREMADE PROGRAMS IS PART OF HACKING

NOBODY, I repeat, NOBODY programms all their own tools…

errr yea u're right, but what i meant was being a total skiddy, not what u got.. but yea u're right..

I wrote this as I need some help to get in to some more serious hacking, not just doing some boring challanges on HBH and sites like this.

Then you'll be satisfied and realize that you're a complete jerk and a vice to hacking communities. And maybe, you'll get arrested during the process, and get enough time in prison to make you think twice before breaking into someone's server.

I guess that you haven't done ANYTHING illegal in your life.

I feel nice (ie. not in a jackass mood)… so I'll answer nicely and not consider you as a complete SK.

That's good as I wouldn't consider me as a SK. And I wouldn't want to be one eiether.

Thanks for your comments BluMoose.

I know a bit C++ and I'm going to get a bit more serious about it later, when I have time to, we have too much homeworks right now.

And again, is there anyone here who could help me to find places where I can learn a bit more serious stuff?

lol, dude, the challenges are here for you to learn. you can't just delve into stuff just by reading something, so that is why here at HBH it is a "We provide a safe and completely legal simulated enviroment to enhance your computer security skills" quoted from the index. I am in the middle of writing an article about, why the challenges are here and how each one of them benefits you. Some people just look at these challenges to get points, but really they are challenges to win knowledge that you haven't learned yet. As to other people saying that if you use a program that wasn't coded by yourself, then you are a SK, well then let me ask you this. Did you code your web browser or notepad or command prompt? If not, then think again, because those are the most vital tools you need and I doubt you coded them, but i bet you use them.

I am not trying to yell at anyone, simply giving my 2 cents.

I know why the challanges are here, but I don't feel that they are fun enough for me. I have done every single challange to understand more about how everything works. But the challanges doesn't quite satisfy my evil mind.

Well you haven't beaten any of the realistic challenges, which are what you are looking for it seems.

Peace, but pls find one site on the net that sticks their passwords in the /images/ dir. Then pls find find me a site on internet that hides their passwords in pictures. If you can do that, find me a site on the internet that sticks the password in the source.

Do that, and I got infinite respect for ya ;)

IceCube, add me on msn -> blumoos@gmail.com and I can try give ya a push in the right direction ;)

I saw one site once with a login like JS 1

ghost's Avatar

ugh, this is what everyone says, "show me a site with the pass in the source" of course it won't be but the point of having a password on some of these challenges is to make sure you completed the objective. for example basic 1, the objective is to view the source so that the user learns about the sources of webpages which is a necessary thing to learn. To make sure the user actually viewed the source, they put a password in there. The steganos are more for fun, because it is the art of deception. Websites don't use them really, but people sometimes do when they send quick important messages, that they don't want to be found and decrypted easily.

I agree with chrislam completely. The real challenges are for you. Also this is SERIOUSE thing's you can use to hack site's. You seem to think there's a site that's gonna teach you to go break and hack into the President's computer's or something. Well let me tell you , YOU WON'T!!! HBH is the BEST site for learning as you put it "seriouse" hacking. And you mentioned there not fun. Well if you don't have fun or enjoy gaining knowledge. You don't need to be a hacker. Your just someone hopeing to learn to send virus's or something so you can get revenge. It's not about that it's about the knowledge, and bending technology so it work's your way. HBH is not here to teach ILLEGAL practices. Let me give you two definitions.

Hacker- A person elite in computer's and attempts to bend technology to work towards his goal.

Cracker- A person elite in computer's and uses such as a malacious tool to corrupt privacy and data.

Which one are you? Not to be raggin , but please don't ask for something like that, do the challenges, learn and apply!

Hackers are often seen as "White hats" or "Black hats." White hat hackers help fix badly written software programs and write new programs for the greater good of the computing community. Black hats modify or create software for criminal purposes such as stealing your passwords, your identity, your bank account or simply to slow the Internet down for the sole purpose of achieving their 5 minutes of fame.

From HBH's definition

Hacker- a microcomputer user who attempts to gain unauthorized access to proprietary computer systems.

is a stereotypical definition of a hacker. If you think that's what a hacker is, then you are surely fooling yourself. A hacker goes beyond that.

"Hacking is the art of exploring computers and finding out how and why things work. There are ofcourse the extreme minority that decide to deface and attack anything they can, and this is where hackers get a bad reputation. This website aims to change this stereotype and claim back a positive title associated with hackers. Hacking isnt just about Computers and Exploits, its almost a philosphy."

Re-read the http://www.hellboundhackers.org/whatishacking.php for the correct definition. It goes beyond "owning a PC".

The only thing HBH is lacking is more "Web Patching" challenges. That's how realistic it gets. I've learned more with the web patching challenges, than with the realistic ones.

ghost's Avatar

yes granted hbh does need more patching challenges, but hbh admins / users do have a life lol. the patching chall's are really the main objective after beating the other challenges. Because now that you have learned about the exploit, you must know how to fix it, so in order to know that you fix it right(for your own site), hbh offers patching challenges.

Fair argument Chis, and as I stated earlier, learning to view the source was one of the 2 usefull things hbh teaches ;) As for the stego, there may be some people w/out life that hide messages in pictures. But I really doubt it.

As for Crum, Ima try be as nice as possible :)

Also this is SERIOUSE thing's you can use to hack site's.

First off, dictionary.com is a SERIOUS dictionary that will help you learn to spell. If you're ESL, I don't mean that offensive. If you're not, I do.

You seem to think there's a site that's gonna teach you to go break and hack into the President's computer's or something. Well let me tell you , YOU WON'T!!!

Gary did it… must av learn't it somewhere, seing as he didn't even find his own exploit…

HBH is the BEST site for learning as you put it "seriouse" hacking.

/slap

Sorry, but theres no nicer way to put this. Don't even get me started. I'd right an article on it, but it would be rejected.

You don't need to be a hacker.

And you do?

Your just someone hopeing to learn to send virus's or something so you can get revenge.

Please, hack me — 213.84.53.96

You sound like somebody that could do it. Just do it for fun, no revenge or anything. If you do, tell me where I hide my pron pls… seem to av lost it in some directory or another :(

It's not about that it's about the knowledge, and bending technology so it work's your way.

Again, unless you're ESL, /SLAP

Let me give you two definitions.

Let me give you one…

mo‧ron  /ˈmɔrɒn, ˈmoʊr-/ Pronunciation[mawr-on, mohr-] –noun

  1. a person who is notably stupid or lacking in good judgment.

EDIT - in responce to newer posts

Hacker- a microcomputer user who attempts to gain unauthorized access to proprietary computer systems.

is a stereotypical definition of a hacker. If you think that's what a hacker is, then you are surely fooling yourself. A hacker goes beyond that.

All words were given a meaning by people. If people believe a word means something, thats what it will mean.

Example:

People think "butter" is a word used to describe the yellowy substance u get from cows that u can stick on your bread.

People agree on this meaning. If they suddenly decided to change the meaning to a furry animal with long ears, then thats what butter will mean…

The same applies to 'Hacking'…

BluMoose, your arguments do NOT stand.

Stop trying to call people morons for having different point of views than you… just take it like a man (or woman). This is cyberspace. Winning an argument doesn't make you smarter than another person.

ghost's Avatar

Netfish, I got that meaning straight off dictionary.com. I used it for its literal meaning, not to ignorantly insult someone…

Im sorry, but if some kid that I can plainly see to have no idea what hes talking about comes along and starts citing words randomly and attempting to sound all wise, it is my belief that he is notably stupid or lacks in good judgment.

And pls explain how my arguments don't stand, and I'll fix em up :)

Clearly this will never get resolved and lead to constant bickering and pointless arguments.

If you wish to continue talking on this subject please do so somewhere else.
