hi, i recently got pwdum2 reccomended to me so i decided to download it, i downloaded the newest version for windows and decided to try it out on my machine, when i do i use the simple command line:

pwdump2 > password.txt

about half a minit later my machine error's a message saying a critical error has occoured and the system will shutdown in 5 seconds it then counts down and shuts down, i was wondering if there is any way to override such an error or if anyone can tell me why the error occoured.

a little information:

the error mentions "lsass.exe" or at least i think thats the file, sorry i cant give you the exact error message because of the time restraint.

i am running windows XP which i think may be something to do with it…

and i am using the latest version of pwdump2, if an older version would work can anyone tell me?

any help is appreciated, JAM

EDIT: p.s. if theres a program that would work instead of this can anyone suggest it?…. thanks….

I have no Ide about what can have happen. I have used pwdump som times and I have only printet the line pwdump2 and there was the hash. The only think I can think of that can have happen to you is that there can have been som kind of virues on it our that you have got some kind of virus after you did yous pwdump2

Download Cain & Abel from oxid.it/cain.html and use it's build in SAM file dumper in the cracker section. That shutdown thing happened to me and cain let me get the hashes fine.
