cmd copy command?

alright so i have managed to get a cmd prompt running on a computer that i want to use the "copy con filename" command but when i do i dont know how to get back to the cmd prompt e.g.

C:\Desktop>copy con file.txt write something here

how do i get back to C:\Desktop> or how do i stop writing to the file from cmd?…

Press F6 or CTRL+Z (is the same) and the enter: This will create the file. or CTRL+C to abort!
