the primary boot drive is controlled by the BIOS which is a small chip in the computer motherboard, it controlls all the instructions for the computer to make sure it knows how to start, without it your computer is dead!

its super super easy to modify though and its not dangerous or anything if you dont go messing things up! First of all turn the computer on anbd make sure uve got atleast 5-10 minutes! just after you turn it on keep tapping the F2 key itll probably bleed at you but ignore it and carry on, if it boots into windows just restart again and this time press the DELETE key and tap it, if that doesnt work try the INSERT key and if that doesnt work try F12 but one should work

What you want is a screen to appear sayin BIOS Setup or something similar, Now its possible to password protect this too and if your dad has a password on it then you can find a cracker somewhere on the net. now hopefully theres no password and youll probably get a screen that gives a lot of information about bootup options, On that screen look for text saying "Primary boot drive" or "boot sequence" or anything similar, its likely it will be either "USB" or "floppy" something.

If you dont see this information look at the top or along the side for some options like "Advanced" "boot" "time" etc what youre looking for id the "boot" option or if that doesnt exsist look for the "advanced" option, note that the mouse isnt used yet so you can only use the keyboard, usually the arrow keys to highlight and enter to select and escape to leave at any time. Once in the right option look for the "boot sequence" or "boot options" information and it should have 3 or 4 lots of information each with something different in them eg "Hard drive" "Primary IDE drive" etc…

What you need to do is change the first option usually labelled with a "1" or "Primary" to be the floppy drive, usually something like "floppy 3 1/2 " put that into the primary or first option and make sure that you put the hard drive as second or third and the network is usually in the last box. Now youve done thatm youe changed the floppy drive to be the first drive the computer checks for information so now you need to save it, it might say at the very top "press F10 to save and exit" or something like that, if not go to the exit tab or option if you see one or press the escape key, eithyer way you should get an option of saving and exit or discarding changes and exit, and of course we want to save and exit. now your computer wil restart and act totally as normally but now you should be able to use the method you said about using a floppy disk to start the machine.

(I take no responsibility to anything ya do with this information and im just giving information not TELLING you to actually do this.) << just like to cover my back! though im positive no-one would find out if you did do this and it shudnt damage your computer! :)
