The most noob question ever.
Yes… well… I'm new to hacking. So, naturally, I hit the articles, check the different things they have, and a lot are like "Hey, you should really try first email spoofing, then this and this and this" So, naturally, i look at the email spoofing articles, and follow it word for word.
Now here comes the problem. Perhaps I know what the problem is, and possibly the solution- but I'm running it by you guys first.
Basicly case and point is that my "nslookup" command results are as followed:
*Can't find server name for address ...: Server failed *Default servers are not available Default Server: Unknown Address: ...
Yeah. Ok the asterisks for my IP are there cuz… i dunno… maybe it might not be a good idea to broadcast that.
Regardless, everything else follows pretty well, up until actually connecting to a domain. The connections always fail. I assume it has to do with the above.
Now the only thing is that I'm connected through a router into another computer in my own home. So, I have my own private network set up, but perhaps the router is causing problems? So I checked my laptop, same thing. The main comp? Same thing. So I'm really not sure what it is.
Any help would be appreciated- and once again I'm terribly sorry for being so "noob" about this.
If you really bother to read the articles you can notice that Cheese have written in one of his.

That's not what I was asking for.
Yes, I did read the articles on this. I know exactly all the steps to take.
I run the nslookup- I get that error message I set the type =mx
I get the server list for the domain.
Opening up a new cmd prompt, I run telnet, and enter in the server name just like it says in the article. Yes yes, I'm not a "noob" to the point that I didn't write the 25.
Basicly, it never connects. I'm sure it has to do with the problem with the nslookup because under normal circumstances, that message would never be displayed. It says so in the articles ^^;

best bet is to make a php script and email via a web server.
Hm… thank you. I appreciate it. However, I tried many different servers, from yahoo, hotmail, even weird ones like box.az. All came up the same- perhaps it is indeed coincidence.
Regardless, I'll look up php scripting. Thanks for the advice. ::bows::
I do not think that is the most n00b question ever. the best one I have heard is "what is my desktop" user looks at computer desk "What Icons are you talking about?"
That is straight from my old job as tech support for a large canadian construction company.
No lies. This user was so out of it everytime i visited him I had to walk him through EVERYTHING again and again until he got it for that week.
Well, if all connections to port 25 are failing, then its not the servers, its you. Maybe your ISP blocks egress connections to port 25. I use Cox Cable, and they do. I called them up and complained about it, and they told me it was to stop spammers… Pssh, they'll just take over a Linux box and install Sendmail…
So, try it from a different box, or use a shell.
