Is the MacBook Pro compatible with aircrack in Backtrack 3
So recently I got a MacBook Pro and I ran Backtrack 3 from a disk for my first time ever. I'm trying to learn it just by going through menus but I'm not getting very far.
My first problem is that I don't know how to set up the internet.
My second problem which may also be the reason for the first problem is that I don't know if the wireless card in the MacBook Pro is usable with Backtrack 3, and aircrack.
So if anyone can tell me if the included network card works with Backtrack 3, or if I am just retarded, I'll take either.

So yes? No?
jjbutler88 wrote: Its not looking wonderful, you have a marvell chipset for your wireless card, so its not (as far as I know) patched for injection in BT. You can use ndiswrapper to get it up and running, but dont expect and packet injection/wireless cracking. Get an atheros based USB dongle for that :D
I know it may seem stupid, but to me it looks like he has a broadcom chipset for wireless.

I don't see why it's Marvell, that looks like it's only for the wired gigabit connection. Please explain if otherwise.

I bet jjbutler accidentally switched these results in his head:
0c:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Marvell Yukon 88E8058 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 13)```
Also; TS was running Backtrack? It's not exactly linux-style, but try running Internet->Wireless Assistant from the menu, it should work.
Ah, damn you brain and your optical illusions! Yeah ok, broadcom have an ace native driver out, which I think is included with BT3. You should just be able to use wireless assistant, but failing that, you can do it manually with iwconfig (for WEP/Open) and wpa_supplicant (for WPA/2)
edit - Failing that, here are the ndiswrapper drivers http://myspamb8.googlepages.com/R151517-pruned.zip PM me if you need help getting ndiswrapper up and running.
I think I missed something, but so it should work with those drivers? The wireless assistant yells at me every time I open it (it as in the wireless assistant). And I boot BT3 from a disk so I'm guessing I need to install it first to put the drivers on.
Edit:
Its probably just my lack of knowing what I'm doing, and on that note what should I see when opening the wireless assistant?
I don't think the MBP has one. I'll be on the internet in windows, boot up BT 3, open the wireless manager and get nothing.
This is what I do:
KMenu -> Internet -> Wireless Assistant
It opens with an error saying:
"No usable wireless devices found Wireless Assistant will now quit."
There's an ok button, you click it and viola it closes.
Edit:
If this doesn't work I'm just going to get a linksys usb card, any idea what the best one they have is?
More Edits:
When I type in iwconfig it isays:
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
