Truecrypt Data Recovery
Hello all, A few months ago I decided that due to some unwelcomed attention from local authorities, that I would give Truecrypt a try. Well, I have to say that the trial was a success because now, I can't get back in to my pc. I have a fair bit of info about my password but I don't remeber specifically what it is. I have the approximate length and the character set that would match. I just don't remember whether some were uppercase or lowercase and whether certain letters were replaced with numbers.
I used TrueCrypt 5.1a and so far every thing seems to point to it being uncrackable at present. This prompts me for a password before booting the OS. I can still run live cd's but I'm stuck at this point. I would like to find an easier way than just guessing all the variations of my password. I would greatly appreciate any help.
Hackaday.com has posted some interesting things about that topic. Check out this one http://www.hackaday.com/2008/05/13/cold-boot-encryption-attack-video/ and that one http://www.hackaday.com/2008/02/21/breaking-disk-encryption-with-ram-dumps/.
Good luck ;)
