Dear HBH Community, please don't be scared by this relatively massive textblock. I kindly ask you to read it, as my problem is rather pressuring.

Well I have been interested and learning hacking in quite some time now. I studied various programming languanges and analyzing different crackers. Suddenly my studies was interrupted by an error message telling me that my laptops harddisk was going down, and soon I would experience that the same would happen to the rest of my beloved machine. So there I was, in great need of a new rig so I could, once again, attend to my studies, on a boarding school, not being able to get a job. I was, though, able to get acces to another pc, but that wouldn't be accesible all the time, and lacked greatly of the power of my former machine. So I needed, and still need, to earn, or at least acquire, some money. I found a "put-together-yourself machine" that was quite good, for nothing more than about $1100. But still, that was $1100 more than I had. So now I ask you, Hell Bound Hackers community, is there any way to earn money through the common interest we share? I must say, before you answer, I have certain ethics when it comes to hacking. And they forbid me to steal from anything else than a company so big, that I don't yet have the courage to attack them, or a nazi. But if any of you, have an idea of how I could earn that cash, I would greatly appreciate if you would share it. Thank you, in forehand.

Thank you for the advice, LesserLightsOfHeaven, that surely made my thoughts spin again, and now they have generated a few new questions: The things is, I prefer Linux, over Windows, so your suggestion would be to running a WHAX live cd, or likely on a public pc? And since im on a boarding school, the most public pc, I can get acces to, is the schools computers. Would that work? And even if that's a working solution, I would still love get myself a personal computer again. So the question, in my first post, still remains. But thanks again, I will surely use that advice.

Dear Carbon. If you would please take the time to, read my post just one more time, you will find, that I actually wrought that soon after my harddisk went down, the same thing happened to the rest of my machine. <sarcasm>I sincerely hope that this reply will not put a stop to your natural hostily, as it is always pleasent to meet such "unfriendlyness" in a community you have just come to</sarcasm>

If you code, there's the aforementioned rent-a-coder but since you're in a boarding school, surely there are fellow classmates who could find a use for your talents. Also, consider parting out your laptop on ebay. It may not cover the entire cost but it will help.

now there's some good advice, you can make a fair amount of money from doing stuff for people at your school, I got 40 euros the other day just for making a simple phishing page for someone

Okay… $1100????

That machine would be KILLER if you built it yourself, unles it's a lappy, which you can still get pretty cheap.

I built mine for under $500, all parts from newegg except for salvaged CRT monitors and a geforce 6600le vid card (you can get an 8600 for under $150; 6800s for about $50). The specs:

AMD Athlon X2 6000+ dual core @ 3.0GHz, 2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM, 250GB SATA HDD, 500W Rosewill PSU, on an ASUS M2A-MVP mobo with CrossFire480 and Cool 'n Quiet and Gigabit LAN with Realtek Hi-def audio.

You can get a great lappy for far less than $1100, unless you're looking for something at 4ghz :p

Just my thoughts, anyway.

This PC at $1100 is both a killer and a "built-self". The big problem is thta I don't live in US so I can't really find any really cheap sites like NewEGG.
